Agreed. Two things that help keep me more or less sane in this insane world are great literature (yes, all of Dickens, and then Scott, Stendhal, Fontane, Tolstoy ...) and great music (Bruckner, Mahler, Schubert, Tchaikovsky ...). Culturally I am a refugee from the 19th century.
