Off road mode got an app! (And yes, lockers)
On the left side you get a vitals page and the right side are your one-touch controls, these change depending on which mode you are in.
There are two main modes: 'Overland' for technical driving and 'Baja' for more dynamic action…
Love the detailed breakdown

- well done! One underlying assumption, which is what any reasonable engineer would assume: the video showed was the best run. It was not. But it was the most dramatic finish.
So "why didn't we do a full 1/4mi?"
The fastest 1/8mi CT…
We've been sharpening the pencil for Off-Road controls and that will come to the fleet in an OTA update. The Trimotor (video hero) is like off-roading in easy mode. The two dual-motor Baja trucks at the end also made it up. And it's doable without lockers, though takes more…
A lot of MSM coverage about rust. None show actual photos, usually a good indicator to question the accuracy. Side by side with a painted vehicle, this is surface contamination.
Tesla SS actually has a PREN value (resistance to pitting corrosion) higher than 316L "marine grade"
Good myth busting. Stainless is reactive and free iron that sits on it will rust. It's surface contamination only and can be cleaned off easily. Bar Keeper's Friend used here works well, citrisurf77 can also loosen the deposit and simply wipe it off. If anything stubborn use a…

Let's continue your game - think about this answer: Would you consider the 911 an Iconic car?
I'd say so and there's more than 1.2M on the road. My opinion, but I think CT has Icon staying power. I've personally lived with Cybertruck day in and…
FAFO - we build vehicles for people who love and enjoy them. Not to flip for profit without adding any value. This shouldn't need to be said or enforced
NEWS: Tesla enforces no resale clause on Cybertruck, cancels orders and blacklists owner.

Sorry to hear that, please use your app and reach out to service. They can troubleshoot by looking at the exact situation and provide next steps.
Cybertruck has lived a tortured life for entertainment - Jumped on, kicked, burned, beaten, and shot (multiple times). To quote the black knight, it's just a flesh wound, I'm invincible!
Now we've confirmed is tough, maybe Cybertruck can roam freely on and off-road in peace?
Imagine a rich database of real world crashes - velocity and acceleration of every event. Add vehicle signals leading up to and during the impact. And the position and trajectory of nearby vehicles.
If somehow you knew all that - could probably make a pretty safe design, right?
Having spent the last 13 years on hardware testing and reliability, this is super encouraging. No matter how exhaustive your DFMEA someone will come up with a novel way to use and break things, suppliers will pursue cost savings that will cause unexpected problems, and software…
The inverter is already on the truck. You just need a switch to be able to disconnect the home from backfeeding the grid. If you already have a powerwall and a Tesla wall charger, it will just work out of the box as an additional ~9 powerwalls that you can also drive to work
The Tesla ecosystem has no competition.
Because I bought the "FOUNDATION Series" Cybertruck,
Tesla is coming to put an inverter in my house, so that I can use the Cybertruck battery power to feed the household in the event of an earthquake or catastrophe.
Phenomenal.
Our in-house seats team is awesome. The new ModelS Sport seats are so comfy yet perfectly sporty AND heated/cooled. The team made a custom set for Cybertruck Baja test trip and they were so good. A keen eye may have noticed these on display at the launch event.
New Model S Plaid Sport Seats
If you know what high-G cornering means, these seats are for you
- Increased lateral support
- Modular seat architecture for comfort & support, plus same 12-way power adjust, heating & ventilation
- High performance suede for increased grip &…
To really capture the full story would take years and be impossible to follow as there would be several thousand parallel storylines. We've been discussing manufacturing since the Cybertruck was only made of clay and every day since.
Thousands of unique parts that each need to…
Many movies exist about a lone inventor in a garage having a eureka moment, but almost none about manufacturing, so it’s underappreciated by the public.
Compared to the insane pain of reaching high-volume, positive-margin production, prototypes are a piece of cake.
Would be great to see NACS and 48v included in the R2 demo today. Hopefully they also double down on getting BOM cost as low as possible, and focus on designing for manufacturing, this could be their transition from SX -> 3Y (R1 -> R2). It will take intense efforts but doable.…
Supercharger team is always looking for opportunities to install these at new locations. Will show trailer friendly stalls on the in-vehicle UI to make it easier when road tripping with a trailer
@jaminwestby
Imagine an alternative universe where media is biased against combustion vehicles. The science teacher might talk about how the energy used to move a combustion vehicle is mostly turned to waste heat and is derived from burning hydrocarbons which creates airborne toxic byproduct
The GFTX team is killing it! New records every day and that will likely continue if not accelerate. Expect to see GFTX outbound lot in full Armada mode soon!
Another record over 140 Cybertrucks on site today, about 95 at the E testing & calibration lot, 15 at the SW corner temp staging lot & ~ 30 on the W outbound lot, with more departing on transport truck. Some have what appear to be VINs written on the driver side windows!
This was an incredible learning experience for Cybertruck off-road and a really tough but enjoyable challenge. Baja was also such a beautiful place. Would highly encourage anyone to make use of the destination charger network and check it out.

The reason V12 is so vastly different from previous versions and why it's fundamentally a better approach, instead of trying to define rules for an infinitely variable world, teach the computer to reason the same way today's drivers do
Original Model 3 was great. Then we added sentry mode, dog mode, made it faster, made it safer, improved HVAC, Supercharging, added games, video service streaming, music players, mobile app can preheat, open doors, view remote cameras. All Over-The-Air since I bought it in 2017.…

cool product. Great looking prototypes. I know how these things go, there is still time to move the charge port location. It will take some re-engineering but the tools are not kicked off yet. This location will forever doom all Rivian owners to be the…
Although it’s great Rivian adopted NACS, it was a pretty bone head move to locate the charge port to the passenger rear imo. Seems like pretty inconvenient place, and doesn’t solve the existing confusion at Tesla Superchargers.
BUT, hopefully V4’s will be more common by the…

This is hilarious. But for real the Model S Plaid is so much value for money. Good luck finding a YouTube video where it doesn't win in a drag race regardless of price. It also seats five and makes for a great camper
Would you rather have a new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT which is slightly faster than a Tesla Model S Plaid around a track, or have a Tesla Model S Plaid, Tesla Cybertruck, refreshed Tesla Model 3 for the same price?
I get calls from my parents and friends anytime these go out asking if they need to be concerned about it. Sending these for things fixed Over-The-Air is only adding confusion in a way that degrades the value and gravity of a recall letter.
I've launched a petition urging
@NHTSAgov
to stop paper recall letters & classifying OTA software updates as recalls.
I discussed these issues with
@Tesla
, which they're working on.
NHTSA should see the public's support for these changes. Please sign!
Not advised while driving since there is a bit of reflection and this is definitely not a stationary mount... BUT it fits and gets good signal, so maybe an option while parked
@gthiell
At this rate, it looks like you might need to service these sometime in the next decade... Actually the biggest concern are the pads and rotors rusting in place from non-use. Tesla vehicles do automatic brake disc wipe when cold and wet weather is detected. This applies an…

Thanks for the feedback, the team has been working on many of these. I think you will be happy with the progress you see in these areas OTA soon.

Steer by wire and modern power assist steering are both doing the majority of the work for the driver and can have the same responsiveness and road feedback, in fact you could amplify the feedback if desired. The main difference is that steer by wire can have a variable steering…

vehicle feature idea: Fresh Air Reverse Transfer System
This technology maximizes first row fresh air by temporarily running the front row seat cooling ventilation in reverse, drawing air from above the seat and exhausting it into the second row.

Extremely well articulated and retrospectively looking back, this resonates with my experiences. Definitely grew and learned the most in times of pain and suffering.
Maybe this is also why type 2 fun is a thing...
The update that's rolling out to the fleet makes full use of the front and rear steering travel to minimize turning circle. In this case a reduction of 1.6 feet just over the air
@cybrtrkguy
Take the info from the above post with a grain of salt. First of all, anyone can do the math and see energy/miles would be 597wh/mi not 599wh/mi, guessing there wasn't a 7 available to Photoshop. Not to mention this consumption is absurdly high. I've currently got 325 wide mud…

Can we get rid of the all the walled garden of text message interaction and file transfer? At this point it's not a technical challenge it's just a decision to intentionally make a bad user experience.

I mean... the Moab dirt all over this truck is red due to iron oxide, so if we are playing horseshoes you might get a point for being close.

Air Suspension, Adaptive Damping and really large tires work together with the supercar level torsional stiffness which enables softer bushings keeping the drive feeling sporty while not being harsh.

Good catch, seems like a bug in the additional information - Drew was right, Tri-motor configuration is PM up front, Dual induction in the rear.

I've had a few thumbs down out the window, so I don't think it's zero. But certainly heavily weighted towards positive interactions of happiness, excitement, curiosity, and joy. And that's coming from people in trucks, sports cars, minivans, sedans, supercars, anything and…
Cybertruck’s Biggest Surprise:
- The first thing people notice about CT is the design, it’s polarizing and often people pick a side of love/hate (very few are in the middle)
- But after a week of driving and maybe ~1,000 in-person interactions, exactly ZERO people have disliked…

Good punch list of quirks and features, but let's be honest, the score is actually 75
Model X Plaid with a rated 0-60 of 2.5s gets a 10
Model Y Performance at 3.5s gets a 9
But Cybertruck at 2.6s gets an 8 🤔

Good catch! This was a late design change that looks like it wasn't updated. Will fix it and see if we can allow public emails for the future.
Today I learned if you get locked in the bed of a Cybertruck you are basically trapped unless:
It’s daylight out
or
You have your phone for the flash light
The emergency pull tab is impossible to find in the dark. I’m not sure why it’s not illuminated for safety purposes?
The firmware team really pulled out the stops on this one. Not only creating a control for each of Cybertruck's 128 DRL LEDs individually for slick scrolling effects but making it sync across vehicles on the same wifi network makes for some mind blowing effects
