A WCSO deputy performed a traffic stop on a very slow moving vehicle in Arlington this evening, and discovered the elderly driver was reported as a missing person out of Omaha. Driver was taken to Fremont hospital, and OPD and family has been contacted. CC

Deputies dispatched to 100 block 7th St in Herman for a noise complaint. Caller states neighbor is shooting off a large cannon, and this is not the first time.
Deputy dispatched to area of Hwy 133 and Co Rd P26, where caller says a large hawk is sitting in the middle of the turn lane. The caller is unable to drive forward because the hawk will not move.
Today is our Twitter anniversary - thanks to all our followers and friends for sharing in our hobby the past 6 months; what began from COVID-induced boredom has been a chance to share the important work of the county's first responders, with some plane spotting on the side.
When you fail to yield and then flip off the ambulance responding to a call, without realizing a sheriff's deputy is down the road. And do so while driving on a suspended license.

It has been a great first month tweeting the law enforcement, fire, and rescue happenings of Washington County, with some aviation and weather thrown in to the mix too - a big thanks to everyone along for the ride!
Arlington Fire, Blair Fire, Kennard Fire, and Ft. Calhoun Fire have been paged for mutual aid to a reported 5-mile wide field fire in Burt County in the area of Hwy 77 and Hwy 51 north of Lyons. Any and all available units have been requested.
The WCSO Special Response Team (SWAT), with support from BPD, NSP Troops A and B, Blair Rescue, Herman Rescue, and OPD's ABLE-1 conducted an operation in northern Washington County tonight in response to a reported emergent situation. Two individuals were reported detained.
Deputies have been out on a traffic stop in the area of Hwy 75 and Mary Nelson Ln for almost an hour with an individual with a felony shoplifting warrant out of Omaha. Douglas County advised no units were available for a pickup. CC

Blair Police dispatched to Walmart for report of a male party who pointed to his waist and stated "this gun in my pocket said I do not have to wear one" when he was asked by an employee to put on a mask.
INFO: Harrison County has issued a countywide BOLO on behalf of ISP for a newer, bright red Volkswagen with Nebraska plates, being sought in a shooting that occurred 40 minutes ago in Luton, IA, and is believed to be heading southbound on I-29. No additional detail at this time.
NSP has issued a BOLO for a Burt County-registered vehicle possibly used during a homicide in New Mexico; lookout is for a gray 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, Nebraska tag 31-G749. If seen call 911 and do not approach.
Dispatch advises that Omaha Police are currently unable to send officers to a location in their jurisdiction for a requested follow-up. CC

WCSO has one in custody on two Douglas County warrants from a traffic stop in Ft. Calhoun. No one from OPD or DCSO is available to meet for custody transfer, so a Washington County corrections deputy will transport to Douglas County. CC

Blair Police dispatched to check area of 13th and Jackson Sts near a stop sign. Caller reports a blanket near the stop sign is covering something, and is concerned what is under it.
The Washington County Communications Department has issued this countywide broadcast and BOLO to all fire/rescue and law enforcement personnel this Christmas Eve.

experiencing a major failure of a number of key dispatching systems. The failure appears to have begun around 5:15 a.m. and full functionality has yet to be restored.
PSA: Even with a valid burn permit, you need to call Washington County dispatch at 402-426-6866 before burning, so they don't have to page a bunch of volunteer firefighters out on the weekend to verify that something that is not supposed to be on fire is in fact not on fire.

WCSO units are out on a traffic stop near Blair High Rd and Bennington Rd in Douglas County, with a compact that was clocked doing 103 mph on Hwy 133 near the county line. Bennington Police are assisting. CC

WCSO has taken two into custody from a consent search in 4700 block Trout Ln, one for Sarpy and Platte County warrants. Deputies have also recovered a silver Honda Civic reported stolen through Lincoln Police. CC

Fire crews from Fort Calhoun, Blair, Kennard, Ponca Hills, Herman, Bennington, Waterloo, Valley, Irvington, Boys Town, Omaha, Tekamah and National Wildlife all continue to battle a very large and complex wildland fire in Washington County near Fort Calhoun.
WCSO has located a GMC Sierra reported stolen out of Omaha last month, in a thicket of trees off a road. OPD has advised WCSO to contact Auto Theft during normal business hours to discuss disposition. Tow dispatched. CC

Numerous WCSO and NSP units, in addition to the OPD ABLE-1 helicopter, are on location at a large gathering in the 19400 block of Co Rd 20 north of Hwy 91 involving approximately 100-150 vehicles and a large fire.
Be careful out there! In the past hour Blair Police have been dispatched to two property damage accidents - a vehicle off the road near the roundabout, and a vehicle that slid near a pole in the 1000 block S Hwy 30.
Fire dispatch calling final alarm for firefighter Charles Ward, who served the citizens of Kennard and surrounding communities for ten years. “Rest in peace... we have the watch from here.”
Caller reports a coyote charged and chased them to their car, then tried to attack the car, in the area of 2500 block Nebraska St in Blair. BPD dispatched.
NSP was dispatched from area to assist Dodge County Sheriff with traffic control of officer-involved personal injury accident in Fremont. An intoxicated driver reportedly struck a Fremont Police cruiser, causing the cruiser to roll. The officer is reportedly OK.
BPD dispatched to 1000 block Washington St, for a report of a male and female wrestling in the Burger King parking lot, with all the Burger King employees also outside. The male reportedly had a crossbow.

WCSO has encountered a possible large underage drinking party in the area of Spring Ridge Loop, with approximately 15 potentially involved vehicles in the area. Multiple deputies responding to area.
Today’s incident in Ft. Calhoun marks the apparent third reported Washington County murder of 2023, and the second for that city since August. Hard to find data on when there was last such a number in the county.

When you're bored so you decide to take a listen to the folks across the river and then discover Iowa uses a whole different ten code system that you aren't going to bother attempting to understand.
At approximately 8:10 PM this evening BPD and WCSO were notified of a pursuit in Harrison County (IA) that was westbound on Hwy 30. The pursuit ended in IA near the De Soto NWR entrance when the suspect vehicle rolled multiple times after shots were fired at pursuing officers.
No one was reported hit by the gunfire, and the suspect was taken to the Missouri Valley hospital by rescue while in custody of Harrison County law enforcement. ISP and other Iowa agencies also responded. The vehicle never entered Nebraska.
Nebraska State Patrol helicopter has landed at the Blair airport, its first visit since the return of

from maintenance. It may be backing the OPD helicopter this evening.
Be extremely careful out there this morning, there have been multiple personal injury accidents due to slick road conditions. WCSO has called out additional deputies due to the volume of calls.
NDOT Blair Yard truck on Hwy 91 reports the road is mostly dry with light snow that is not sticking, and not enough snow yet to plow or treat on Hwy 75.
A WCSO investigator located a fugitive (reportedly for parole violation and sexual assault) at a commercial establishment in Blair, deputies dispatched.

Area agencies have issued a BOLO for a stolen blue 2020 Kia Optima, NE tag WHS 548, occupied by a felony-wanted party possibly armed with automatic weapons and earlier today involved in a multi-agency pursuit between IA and NE. Last seen in North Omaha/Hwy 75. If seen, call 911.
WCSO units and OPD's ABLE-1 helicopter were searching the area of Nashville this evening for a missing individual reportedly experiencing a mental health crisis. The individual was located. Ft. Calhoun Rescue had also been paged for assistance in the search.
NSP working to confirm this is the same vehicle as the BOLO, the license plates have been removed. This pursuit reportedly started just north of the Burt/Washington County line.
Washington County Emergency Management storm spotter has reported rotation on Hwy 133 south of Blair, headed toward Ft. Calhoun. Deputy also reports rotation near Kennard, moving east. Nothing touching down at this time.
