announce progress on Klamath River restoration with Yurok and Karuk tribal leaders. Removing four dams will restore 400 miles of salmon habitat— the largest river restoration project in US history. 🐟 🌲
Wow. What a day. So excited to roll-up sleeves with

@KamalaHarris
to tackle the climate crisis with science and urgency. Lots of good, important work ahead. 🇺🇸💪🏽🌎
Fired up and ready to go!🔥 Just landed in DC,working this week w/ federal agencies & our CA Congressional delegation to utilize HUGE new federal investments into new CA water & energy infrastructure, env restoration and more.🇺🇸
Incredible bravery by this CA fire crew, who sheltered in place while a raging wildfire *burned over them.* 💪🏽🔥🇺🇸These men are incarcerated Californians, who will have a better shot at working as firefighters when they are released thanks to

BRAVERY - I had the honor of meeting with the crew members of SugarPine Crew 6 and two of their
@CAL_FIRE
Fire Captains. Their bus burned, then the house they sheltered in burned. They survived by following their training, their orders and using their fire shelters.

I wish I could call this hyperbole. But this last month in CA has been brutal. 🔥 Climate change impacts are here with a vengeance. We need to come together more than ever on world-leading climate action. 🌎
What a difference a year makes. 9/20, US President: "Science doesn't know." 9/21: US President: "Scientists have been warning us for years that extreme weather is going to get more extreme... We have to think big." So glad for this

TID has been selected to pilot first-in-the-nation project involving solar panels over canals, called Project Nexus. Project Nexus could contribute to a more water resilient future for California and position the State to meet its ambitious clean energy goals.
While California leads the way using tech to combat climate change (renewables, electric vehicles etc) we need more *nature-based solutions* to take climate action and protect biodiversity. Thank you
@GavinNewsom

Man, this rain & snow feels good amidst drought!❄️ Keep in mind that it’s still early days in our wet season. Graphic👇🏼tells the tale: Recent storms have brought us to average precipitation *year to date* but we need a lot more rain in coming weeks to reach the annual average.☔️
Don’t let a little rain fool you 🌧, we are persisting into a third year of drought. We need to step up actions across the state to protect our most vulnerable communities, fish and wildlife, and limited water supplies. We can do this California❗️

This is a HUGE deal: We’re very close to final approval for the largest dam removal & river restoration in American history.👇🏼 Over 400 miles of salmon habitat in the Klamath River will be restored. Tribal leadership & unprecedented partnerships are making this happen.🙌🏽
Important news! California lands and waters benefit from tribal stewardship. Kudos to
@TheYurokTribe
,
@tpl_org
and all parties on this innovative transfer. 👇🏼
Drought conditions are gripping the American West and California is no exception. A second straight dry winter will require us to take several actions in coming weeks and months to carefully manage available water supplies and protect vulnerable fish and wildlife.
The Yolo Basin doing its thing today, right next to Sacramento.🕺🏽
Multi-benefit floodplain at its best: protecting our city from flooding🚨 and providing incredible winter habitat for fish and wildlife🐟🦅. We’re restoring more these seasonal floodplains.📈
Klamath river renewal is in full swing!🙌🏽Recent 📸 of Copco 2 dam👇🏼, 1st of 4 dam removals that is part of largest river restoration in American history.🤩 Thank you tribal leaders & many others for driving this effort over decades. More progress ahead⚠️

Flash flooding in NYC... Tahoe basin on fire... millions without power in Louisiana. All THIS week. Climate change must be a national priority. And our federal investments must reflect this. Thank you
#governors
for calling this out
These pictures cry out for change. CA has invested more in wildfire prevention than any time in our history. Enacted bold climate policies. But it’s not enough.
We must do more. We need action at EVERY level. CA cannot do this alone.
Climate change is REAL.
So please — VOTE.
Proud of

Amidst horrific wildfires this week, just learning about a call-to-arms from scientists across the globe to protect biodiversity before it’s too late. There’s more we can— an should— do on this California. 🦉🐝🦎🐞
Incredible to see how quickly the Biden-Harris Administration is moving to reestablish America’s environmental leadership. 💪🏽💪🏻💪🏿Can’t wait for restored state-federal partnerships to protect our people and planet. 🙋🏽♀️🌎🙋🏻🌏🙋🏼♂️🌍
