November is #MilitaryFamilyAppreciationMonth. Coming from a military family, I know how many sacrifices our service members and their families make for our nation. It’s an honor to represent a large military community in #SD39 – I’m grateful to them each and every day.

Today, I joined leaders in California’s agricultural industry to discuss some of the challenges the industry is facing, and how we can find common ground to support economic interests and our environmental goals. Thank you for having me!

I was pleased to join the Silicon Valley Leadership Group’s Women’s Leadership Series to  discuss the importance of women’s leadership at every level of government. All politics is local, and women’s voices should always be heard.

#AmericaRecyclesDay promotes recycling – one of the ways we can take action to limit the amount of trash going to the landfill & protect our environment! In 2022, I authored #SB1013 with @SenBillDodd to expand California’s recycling program to include wine and spirits bottles!

#ThxBirthControl Day celebrates the impact #BirthControl has had on women's social, economic, and political equality. We must protect access to contraception – the ability to decide if, when, and how to start a family is a fundamental human right.

Today, we honor #RubyBridges, who faced intolerance and racism as a child to advance the fight for desegregation and equality. Though it has been over 60 years, the effort to ensure equitable treatment in our schools, our government, and our society continues.

Congratulations to @SDMiramar for being recognized with the 2024 Excellence in Placement Award! San Diego Miramar College is increasing equity in higher ed by putting students on the path to a four year degree.

#TransAwarenessWeek brings attention to the issues impacting our trans community. As hate rises across the country, so do political attacks on #TransRights. We must stand in solidarity with our trans siblings and fight to protect their rights and freedoms. 🏳️‍⚧️

The issue of affordable housing has always been a top priority of mine, stemming from my own experience growing up in poverty in southwestern Virginia. I am proud to work together with the California Council for Affordable Housing to address these important issues.

Yesterday, we honored those who served our nation with selflessness and dedication. Coming from a military family & representing a district with a large community of active service members & veterans makes #VeteransDay especially meaningful to me & our entire San Diego community.

In honor of #VeteransDay, admission to @NatlParkService Parks is free tomorrow! 144 @CAStateParks throughout California will also offer free admission to veterans, active duty, and military personnel.

Each year, I join the Barona Band of Mission Indians and Chairman Raymond Welch as they present a deserving school in my district with an Education Grant. Yesterday, Principal Jamey Jaramillo welcomed us to De Portola Middle School for this special occasion.

Since his appointment in 1995, Paul Downey has led @ServingSeniors as their Pres. & CEO. He is a respected, local, state, & national advocate for seniors. I have enjoyed working with “Saint Paul” throughout my time in elected office & presented him with a Reso in appreciation.

Proud to partner with @SoCalWaterComm on their 40th anniversary. They are uniquely positioned as a leader on CA water issues with members including stakeholders such as water agencies, cities, agricultural groups, business groups, labor unions, and environmental organizations.

.@PacArtsMovement showcases the Asian, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander presence in media & entertainment. Congrats on kicking off the 25th annual San Diego Asian Film Festival - spanning the next 10 days to show over 170 films from 35 countries! #SDAFF2024

Today is #ElectionDay! Make sure your ballot is postmarked today, drop it in a ballot drop box, or vote in person by 8pm (remember, if you’re in line at 8pm, stay in line until you vote!). Our democracy works best when all of our voices are heard!

During #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, we celebrate & honor the rich cultures of the tribes that were here long before CA became a state. It’s been an honor to work with many of the tribes throughout CA, & I remain a steadfast supporter of their individual & sovereign rights.
