This probably doesnโt make any sense, but Denis Villeneuve has better films than Christopher Nolan, but I respect and enjoy Nolan astronomically more as a filmmaker and storyteller. .

I donโt really think this is true, to be honest. There is a small and understandably loud minority of people who genuinely hate his sensibilities.
Eddington, and, Ari Aster are both pretty beloved critically and by the overall ~cinephile~ crowd. I think points of dissension are always beneficial to someone like that, and it's a little embarrassing to watch you guys become Marvel fans at any criticsm lol.
