Reminds me about how in the 20s Mr. Thalberg noted that the bigger hits MGM had allowed them to take artistic risks on movies that could lose money in the short term but could prove to be culturally relevant and profitable in the longterm without really taking a financial hit

Honestly, in a healthy system, this is what movies like “Minecraft” exist to support. So, good job DeLuca and Abdy.

Lauryn Hill honors D’Angelo: “Thank you for being a beacon of light to a generation and beyond who had no remembrance of the legacy that preceded us. Thank you for charting the course and for making space during a time when no similar space really existed.”

RIP D’Angelo, don’t even know what to say. Three timeless albums, each one an incredible expansion of his sound—a peerless, flawless discography. It wouldn’t even be crazy to say he released the best album of the 90s, the 2000s, and the 2010s. One of our greatest artists.

I am spending Thanksgiving (Canada version) with my brother, his wife and my two nephews - the one and a half year old of which is covered in his snot but is maybe the most adorable thing I've ever seen, and the 3 year old of which seems to grow increasingly insane

⚡️The name Concordium carries meaning. Rooted in Latin, Concordia (harmony, unity, trust) and -ium (a place or institution), signifying a space where technology, trust, & integrity coexist. The mission is simple yet powerful: to build a seamless and trusted digital ecosystem.

I've adored the last several Yimou pictures but it seems to me that he reached a level of peak awareness when he directed the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony in 2008 and then people in the Western Hemisphere seemed to stop caring lol

Zhang Yimou used to be one of the biggest arthouse names in the US. Nowadays, he makes a movie a year, they’re huge hits in China, and are then mostly ignored in the US, despite the fact that the man has more masterpieces to his name than most of your faves.
