I had an amazing time at the #EAA2023 today! And got to finally know in person the lovely people of @TobacHistory !! So many interesting topics and all in such a wonderful location! How I've missed archaeology. 😍🥹.
As it turns out, smoking alters the normal cementum growth pattern, and Valentina was able to distinguish active smokers and people who had smoked in the past. And due to the growth rate of the cementum, she was also able to use this method to estimate age!
