Results from the research led by Dr. Harold L. Rosenthal found that the radioactive strontium-90 levels in the baby teeth of children born increased by 100 times between 1945 and 1965, and levels correlated with timing of atomic bomb tests. Image credit:

Dr. Louis Reiss directed the project from 1959 to 1961, teaming up with local dental schools to collect 15,000 baby teeth from people in the local community in just the first year, and ultimately collecting almost 300,000. Photo credit:
