Forest Service firefighters and local fire department cooperators are responding to a 2-acre fire near Hwy 36 and Big Meadows Rd. Fire is confirmed to be on National Forest. High winds present challenge. Crews on scene working to take advantage of rocky topography to slow spread.

worked through the day to finish mopping up and patrolling containment lines. As of tonight, the Lefthand Canyon Fire is 100% contained and remained at 460 acres. Firefighters will be assigned to patrol the fire in the coming days.

Due to the forecast of continuing dry, warm conditions and recent wildfires, the Clear Creek, Boulder and Canyon Lakes ranger districts are enacting Stage 1 fire restrictions effective at noon Friday, April 22.

and needed to be reconstructed with the help of volunteers,

In 2019, firefighters on the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests have burned over 7,000 slash piles in an effort to reduce hazardous fuels! Burning will continue throughout the winter as conditions allow.
As we look back on 2020, we can't thank all the firefighters and other emergency personnel who supported our many wildfires this year. It was a hard season and their willingness to support from near and far was deeply appreciated.

Forsythe II Prescribed Burn Update for SUNDAY, MAY 19: Fire crews have completed a test fire and verified that conditions are good for ignitions today for the Forsythe II Prescribed burn area. Smoke may be visible in the Gross Reservoir area as well as along the Front Range.

We are responding to a half acre wildfire near Miller Rock in Boulder County. Fire is in a remote and rugged location. A Type 3 helicopter and ground resources are en route. Spread potential is moderate and there are no homes in the immediate area.

On Sept 25, 13 volunteers with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado repaired over 1/2 mile of an aging wildlife visual impairment barrier designed to keep prairie dogs from migrating from federal to private land. They replaced broken posts & restrung portions of a barbed wire fence.
As you start to make plans for future recreational outings, expect to find a changed landscape, with the potential for both long- and short-term closures, as well as potential hazards. Check our website for the latest.

crews installed sprinklers along the western flank of the fire due to the heavy concentration of dead and down timber. The water will assist the crews by minimizing risk to firefighters and preventing fire spread across the containment lines.
