Amazon was losing money until it didn’t. I agree that there is a lot of hype here but we have become a deeply leveraged society where we invest in technologies that won’t pay off for decades. And that’s a good thing.
There is no AI economy. It loses hundreds of billions of dollars and all gains are in speculative valuation. The only one making a profit is Nvidia, and it doesn’t make anything. It resells Taiwanese chips to companies that use them to lose money.

Conservatives: We need to increase the birth rate but also we can’t support an increase in population and density is off the table in my back yard.
@motorisms @sam_d_1995 We can't spread. We don't have that type of infrastructure. We have wetlands and swamps and protected forests. We don't have the infrastructure to support urban sprawl.

This. From the beginning of my experiments last November / December, it’s been clear that the models are still in need of a human prompter with deep understanding to operate correctly.
@mitsuhiko Why would it not be OK for a senior to use agentic coding tools? That's sounds crazy, given that that's probably the most effective combination at the moment.

This makes more sense: Classic confidence creep. The same thing happens to me with skateboarding. I stop falling, begin feeling like I’m really good at skateboarding and then I begin to try harder tricks / bigger ramps and I’m back to a noob level again.
@trq212 @iannuttall Just guessing based on my anecdotal experience but when I first jumped in, it was like magic, incredible partner, often working with me on less complex issues, but given the power I branched into much larger and complex projects and operating like I initially did in the new more.

Listening to @dhh on @lexfridman ‘s podcast. He absolutely nails it but for the history of breaking away from IE. I was at Apple in 2003-2008 right next to the Safari team and if it wasn’t for Safari there would be no Chrome. Chrome is a WebKit fork, head Eng poached from aapl.
