šŸ“¢ Ready to rethink XIST? Our latest work, now in Cell, challenges two fundamental assumptions about XIST: its cis-limited action, and its role in equalizing gene expression between XX and XY genotypes. Dive in šŸ‘‡šŸ¤æ(1/6) .

Here we show (2/3): .- FGFR3 marks human primordial germ cells (hPGCs) in vivo.- Upon advancement to Prophase I or Meiosis I FGFR3 gets down-regulated .- hPGCs can be enriched from prenatal human ovaries using FGFR3 FACS.

OurJune issue features several exciting studies on stem cell models of human development, showing hESCs make trophectoderm & can be used to create blastoids. The cover art by Misaki Ouchida plays on the etymology of "placenta" which is ā€œcakeā€ in Latin.

For reasons the reference laboratory could not readily explain, the antibody titer in every well at every dilution of every patient sample, including positive and negative controls, was a homogeneous 1:1,028.
