Eight years on, same old story.
The Trump administration: cut taxes, explode the deficit, cut social programs, spend more on the military. Tax cuts attract the donors, racist appeals & symbolic politics nurtures the base. It's ugly politics, but also familiar politics. This has been the GOP's game for some time.

Agreed!. As the excellent @GC_CUNY election atlas shows, you donβt have to go far outside Manhattan to confront the Dem problem.
Democrats actually lost *the most* ground in NYC/LA in 2024. Lot of questions about why, and their strategy clearly isnβt working, but we should acknowledge that Dems have huge and rapidly developing problems in urban America. They lost minimal ground with rural voters in 2024.
