Colorado Governor Jared Polis (D) on Trump pardoning Tina Peters “No President has jurisdiction over state law nor the power to pardon a person for state convictions. This is a matter for the courts to decide, and we will abide by court orders.”
Trump says he is granting Tina Peters a full pardon despite being prosecuted by Colorado authorities instead of the feds. Presidents can’t pardon individuals who committed state crimes.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said last month that redistricting in his state depended on what Indiana did. Now that Indiana rejected an attempt to draw out two Republicans, it’ll be interesting to see if Illinois goes through with any redraw.

After a rollercoaster few months, the Indiana Senate has rejected a new 9R-0D congressional map in a resounding 31-19 vote. Joining all ten Democrats in voting Nay were 21 Republicans, with the pro-gerrymander campaign seemingly backfiring.
Earlier today, the Indiana House passed a new congressional map amid a long and contentious attempt to further gerrymander the state by eliminating the only two blue seats. The vote (with 11 GOP Nays) shows cracks in the GOP caucus that make its passage in the Senate uncertain:

Forgive my ignorance by why are some people confident in Missouri voters rejecting the state’s new congressional map? Trump won the state by 18 points. Seems like an uphill climb to convince voters there to go back to the old congressional lines.
