There are dozens of safe seats in the UK that have been held by the same party for 100+ years. There are millions of voters who've never had the representation they asked for. We can keep waiting. Or we can change our Victorian voting system. What do you prefer?

People sometimes ask us: "won't Proportional Representation lead to chaos, like in France?" France is the only other democracy in Europe that DOESN'T use a proportional system. Meanwhile, most of the world's most stable democracies have successfully used PR for decades.
🗞️ Four MPs from Renaissance, MoDem, PS and Les Écologistes announced on Monday 13 October in a press release that they would be tabling a bill to introduce proportional representation in parliamentary elections, which they believe will help ‘unblock the country’.

Proportional Representation is the radical idea that a party that gets 30% of the vote should never have 100% of the power. In most stable democracies, this is already obvious. Why not here?

Under First Past the Post, a radical, extreme, even anti-democratic party can take full power on a fraction of the vote - without the consent of the majority. In these troubled times, we shouldn't take our rights and freedoms for granted. That's another reason why we need PR.

In 2029, more people will be eligible to vote than ever before. But it could also be the year in which more voices than ever are ignored. That is, unless we change the voting system so that everyone can be heard. Read Bertie's blog here: https://t.co/vfKUJvKIcN

“With electoral reform increasingly appearing to be a viable prospect, the idea of a National Commission on Electoral Reform offers a clear and credible route towards achieving it.” ✍️ @dmk1793 writing for the @uniofbathipr blog https://t.co/VKs0CPzfmL

At the @Labour4PR rally, I joined voices supporting electoral reform. I want to see the people I speak to every single week embrace and have confidence in the democracy we have in this country. I think through electoral reform we can restore trust in our democracy.
