I made a thread about intermediate filaments and #EpithelialMechanics for the @EpiMechFC.
But what about intermediate filaments? . This question is often in my head when I see a talk about cell mechanics focused on actin or microtubules. I am @tom_golde and today I will give you a short overview about the role of intermediate filaments (IF) in #EpithelialMechanics

Late to the party, but this summer we published a theory paper about intermediate filament bundle formation based on my experiments with stretching epithelial monolayers. Find the synopsis here:.Full paper:.

I present: My first published contribution as a postdoc in the @XavierTrepat lab. Great work that was mainly done by Ariadna Marin-Llauradó and @sohankale.
New paper out! We make epithelial domes, ellipsoids and tubes with full control of size and shape. We map pressure, traction and the stress tensor everywhere with a new computational tool, curved Monolayer Stress Microscopy (code available with the paper).
