for approximately the same cost, Montreal is building a 42-mile fully automated metro. the solution isn’t to buy cars that will just get stuck in traffic. the solution is build transit more efficiently, which can even pay for itself via increased land values
Austin can be retarded. This light rail plan is going to cost $7.1 BILLION, give 10 miles of city access, & provide 28k daily rides. Instead, they could use that money to purchase 2,800 @Tesla Robotaxis at ~$100 MILLION and serve the same amount of riders to 100% of the city.

Ok can’t stop thinking about this. Need someone better informed than me to talk me through it but this sounds like a mistake. Is it to stop people from using the stations as a walkway to prevent overcrowding?
