The Onion's humor is consistently edgier than any right wing publication's flailing attempts at comedy. It's proof that skilled humorists can still joke about anything, even in our allegedly PC culture. Subject matter doesn't get you "cancelled" (criticized); bad arguments do.

The mainstream poker media wants you to think AKs is better than AKo. But I checked my databases - by the way, these are the best databases, ok? You should see them. They're yuge. Beautiful databases. I checked my databases, and I've won nearly 3x as much with AKo. No collusion!

Was explaining WSOP to my uncle yesterday, how it's a whole series of tournaments and how some people feel like bracelets are devalued now that they give so many each year. Then he asked how many I had, and the fact that he didn't intend it as a needle only made it more savage.

There are no "correct" pre-flop ranges. There are no "optimal" pre-flop ranges. There are no "solved" pre-flop ranges. There are solver-generated ranges that are very close to optimal in the absence of any insight into your opponents' (or your own) exploitable tendencies.

There's no such thing as raising "as a steal". Every hand you open derives EV from both folds and calls. It's a spectrum, with some hands benefiting more from the former than the latter, and you do yourself a disservice when you think in terms of "real hands" and "steals".
