To everyone who has played
@ArzetteGame
and left kind words about it...thank you. I sincerely appreciate it.
If you haven't played yet, it's available now for all modern platforms! You can grab the OST here:

So, I decided to make re-imagined versions of the 1993 CD-i classics "The Faces of Evil" and "The Wand of Gamelon". They are remakes using original assets, available for free download to play on Windows and Linux here:

When I recently met up with Rob Dunlavey - the illustrator who did backgrounds for the Zelda CD-i games & Arzette - he gave me an incredibly heartfelt gift...the original world map sketches for both games. I'm so happy and unbelievably grateful.
I am proud to finally reveal my new game, Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore. It is a spiritual successor to a pair of infamous fantasy adventure titles. It's being developed by myself in association with a world-class team of collaborators and published by Limited Run Games.

The positive reaction to Arzette has been beyond anything I could've imagined. Seeing so many people play & enjoy it continues to be surreal. It was a big challenge, but I knew that in the end I had a special game. I am extraordinarily fortunate.
After 122 reviews, Arzette is currently sitting at 98% positive on Steam! It's also at a 77 on Metacritic! Congrats to
@thedopster
for making an amazing game.
If you haven't picked it up yet, make sure to!
When I set out on my crazy
@ArzetteGame
development journey, I never knew that it would lead to this... a photo with the original Zelda CD-i staff (who also worked on the game). I'm so unbelievably grateful for all the support I've received.
This will most likely be the final patch for Arzette. It's a bittersweet feeling, to be fully concluded with development. No question, this game changed my life. I'm very excited for what the future holds, however!
Thanks to all of you who helped make my dreams come true.
Arzette version 1.20 is now live on Steam and will roll out to consoles in the coming days! The patch consists mostly small fixes, tweaks, and features for advanced users on PC. Thanks to everyone who continues to play and enjoy the game!
Patch notes:
Tomorrow,
@ArzetteGame
, my first commercial game, releases. It’s been a long, exciting journey to get here, one that I couldn't have done alone. I'm so incredibly grateful to all the amazing people in my life who’ve helped make my dreams come true.
Was super great to finally meet you
@VinnyVinesauce
! Thanks for being just as kind and generous in person. I am a little sorry (but not that much) for being responsible for all the FINE DINING fans you had to field over the weekend.
Thrilled to announce that I've joined the folks at Limited Run Games as a full time developer! I'll be helping the Carbon Engine team alongside other internal projects. I love working with the folks at LRG so I'm super happy to be there.
I've been asked about it a few times, so I want to confirm that yes, that is indeed Jeffrey Rath narrating the trailer! Recording with him was a blast. I hope you all look forward to hearing more!

Currently testing a patch for Arzette. It fixes minor bugs & polishes a few things. The biggest addition is that NPC intro scenes will always play the first time, even if you have the item they need. I also added a '!' over NPCs when you have their item. Full details coming soon!
Arzette is so close to that Overwhelmingly Positive review score that I can almost taste it...if anyone out there who enjoyed the game wants to help get across the finish line, I'd be super grateful!
What a surreal yet amazing moment. I'm very proud of this very silly game, and so incredibly grateful for all the support and love that has gone into bringing Arzette to life. Check out all the physical items we cooked up here:
After ten years of peace, the evil demon king Daimur has escaped, and only Arzette can stop him!
Go on an unforgettable quest inspired by CD-i-fantasy classics to end him in Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore! Pre-orders launch on 2/2!

Features include widescreen mode, remastered mode for less frustrating play, subtitles, touched up sprites, unlockables, and more. They are not 1:1 remakes, with many differences, but I believe they capture the spirit.
When I first started developing Arzette, I'll be honest & say I never expected an "accolades trailer" for it lmao. I made a game for myself that nobody asked for, but it turns out a lot of people wanted (& liked) it? I keep saying it, but I can't express how thankful I am enough.
To celebrate Arzette's success & inclusion in
@GamesDoneQuick
's SGDQ 2024 event, we're pleased to announce
@LimitedRunGames
is holding a speedrunning contest for Arzette, starting today & ending July 9th! Further details below.
But first, take a look at a new accolades trailer!
@VinnyVinesauce
As a fan of yours, it was amazing to get to work with you. But beyond that, you knocked it out of the park. Super excited for you (and everyone else) to play Arzette soon!
I developed these over the course of 4 years in Game Maker as an exercise to teach myself game development and fulfill an in-joke between friends. As an amateur effort, the programming got a little rough, but hey, it works, and I learned a ton in the process.
@jackal27
How much can you possibly enjoy something when you treat it like a chore?
One of the best parts of growing older has been accepting that I will simply never watch, read, or play all of the things I want to in my life, and that's fine. I enjoy what I can, when I can.
im so glad she had the triforce of wisdom because the zelda wasnt there at first and i never wouldve recognized it if not for seeing her holding a blue triangle and being like "CDI IMPA?????"
This is incredible; notable YTPer DaThings is holding a fundraiser for the American Heart Association, and she promises to make a full YTP mod for Arzette if the goal is reached. I'm absolutely touched. Let's help her reach her incentive!
Wow, this got a lot of attention. Live Morshu reaction below.
For those unaware, I'm currently hard at work on a spiritual successor to the Zelda CD-i games, working with a very talented group of people. I can't wait to reveal more soon, so please follow me to stay tuned!
I really can't thank everyone enough who has supported me on my very strange game dev journey. If you've played & enjoyed Arzette, it's all I could want...this is just icing on the 𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑒𝑟.
Happy to see the great success of
@ArzetteGame
was highlighted in Embracer's recent quarterly report! Proud to have worked on this amazing game with
@thedopster
!
I’m thrilled to announce the first public release of the Arzette Randomizer mod! This free mod allows you to randomize Arzette on PC for a completely fresh experience! Developed with Lightmopp & the community, logic ensures the game is beatable. Link:
A talented fan has recorded an entire longplay of
@ArzetteGame
... if it had been released on the Philips CD-i and recorded from the console. I'm impressed, a lot of work went into this!
Happy 25th anniversary to The Phantom Menace. Over a decade ago, my friends began gifting me merch from the film that overran our local flea markets against my will. I now have a small, cursed shrine as the tradition continues. Here's to 25 more years of Watto in my home.
@BerserkBoyGame
Lmao it's insane that the ROM goes up like instantly after a patch posts to the eShop, right? And also that there are just accounts here that straight up link to it
Assets were ripped by the community, testing done by close friends, and special assistance by an amazing fellow (who wishes to remain private) that without, this project wouldn't be possible. Big shout out to
@geibuchan
for amazing work creating custom sprites for an unlockable.
It was a token of his appreciation for the opportunity to work on Arzette. Thankfully he had these (and other original illustrations for the games) scanned a while ago. I'm in possession of those scans & more and will share in the future. I am very lucky!
"Arzette could have easily been a collection of cutscenes and nothing else, but instead, it's a solid platformer with love in its heart."
Thanks so much for the kind words! I don't think I'll ever get used to it, haha.
For a long time I've been stubborn in thinking the SNES was Nintendo's best system, but after today I can't deny it's the Switch. It has everything a Nintendo fan could want, plus a hoard of amazing 3rd party releases. Plus I got to develop a game for it, so that rules.
I guess the cat's out of the bag - I can confirm I'm developing a spiritual successor to the CD-i games (specifically Wand of Gamelon & Faces of Evil). I'll have more to reveal in time.
Today marks 30 years since the release of the landmark titles that inspired Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore. For the occasion, Arzette is available to wishlist on Steam today! To celebrate, enjoy this throwback magazine-style ad. Wishlist here:
I've been made aware that there's been a fan patch created for the remakes. After testing them, I can say that they're the definitive way to play now. Check them out, if you're so inclined.
I got to play this early & I'm still stunned by the effort that went into it - not only are the cutscenes remixed & hilarious, but there are clever ongoing bits that demonstrate a huge level of care. Huge shout outs to Ellie, I can't believe this exists.
Farcette, a free YTP overhaul mod of Arzette for PC created by notable creator DaThings that replaces all the cutscenes and a ton of in-game text, is now available!
A remarkable labor of love, it's a great way to revisit the game. Check out the trailer!
It's unbelievable to me that Sony released Astro Bot - one of the very best games this year - with minimal marketing.
That said, it's sort of nostalgic, like hearing from magazines or your friends about an amazing game and it lives up to the hype.
Due to the nature of the titles I don't intend on releasing any future updates. These are the final games. You can read more about everything here: If you want to support me, I run a gaming Discord I'd love more people to join:
I am pleased to share an interview with Denis Chernov - a Russian animator that briefly worked at Animation Magic - that was conducted by Zelda CD-i community member Нигракоптер. Some interesting info here, please enjoy!
Arzette is having its first sale this week on Steam! No better time to check it out, if you haven't already...or, if you have, gift a copy to a friend who has it wishlisted. ; )
Save 20% off on Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore on Steam this week, from April 8th-15th! If you haven't taken a journey through Faramore yet, now is a great time to jump in!
He quite literally wouldn't believe someone from the middle of nowhere like him shipped a game on multiple platforms that was well received, based on his very strange and esoteric interests.
I'm very lucky.
That's a wrap for me at PAX East 2024! I had such a wonderful time showing
@ArzetteGame
, talking a LOT about the CD-i, and meeting folks. Until next time!
We do still have some fun Arzette-related things to reveal and discuss all throughout this year & beyond though, so I'm certainly not finished with the game...not even close!
Today marks one year since I released my CD-i remasters. I had no idea that my self-motivational joke project would upend my life; I guess the joke was on me. To everyone that played, made videos, streamed, or sent me nice messages - thank you so, so much.
I am very happy with the Collector's Edition. The art book has tons of behind the scenes commentary, artwork and exclusive interviews with the Zelda CD-i legacy staff. Fans are not gonna wanna miss out on this!
You’ll need these powerful items included with the Collector’s Edition of Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore to complete your quest to defeat Daimur!
Pre-orders for all Arzette physical editions end tomorrow! Reserve your copy today:
For those wondering (I've seen the question come up a couple times, particular from speedrunners) the end game results screen in Arzette only counts the time spent in the game itself - it does not count time spent in the menus or watching cutscenes.
I'm looking for a few bilingual CD-i fans to help me localize Arzette into more languages! I'd like to translate the game into Italian, Dutch, & Brazilian Portuguese. If you'd like to help, send me an email @ or DM me. Thanks!
I'm a little late, but I just picked up a PlayStation Vita for the first time and I think I love it. The form factor rules. Sony should make another one of these.
It's been a personal dream of mine to see a game I made being run at GDQ. Super happy about it, and the fact that it's being run by Dyno, who has worked very hard to perfect his Arzette run. Big congrats, I am so excited!
Thrilled to say Arzette has made the games list, run by the talented
@dynomation4
! We're very much looking forward to seeing the game being run during the event.
Here's an interview with
@thedopster
, the dev who remastered both CDi Zelda games. His next project is a "spiritual successor" to those, called Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore. To listen, search any video or podcast app for "RetroRGB Dopply", or go here:

It's here...you can pre-order Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore today! I almost can't believe it. I'm very proud of the work that myself & fellow creatives (
@PC98_Audi
,
@dark1x
, among others) poured into the game. I look forward to everyone playing it soon!
Legit one of the most exciting game announcements for me. I must have read the Tetris segment of Game Over by David Sheff a dozen times over alone. To interweave that story with a definitive collection of the games is so exciting. Day one.
The game that captivated the world. The amazing true story.

I'm really proud of the Visual Compendium artbook.
@Almalexiel
did an incredible job putting it together, and it really shows just how much work went into the game by the talented (and perhaps deranged) team. Looking forward to folks reading through it.
To get ahead of the concerns: Seedy Eye Software will continue to exist as its own separate company with its own projects. The future is very bright indeed.
Thanks to all of you who have supported me and enabled my dreams to come true.
In case people aren't aware of what Arzette is, it's a spiritual successor to the Zelda CD-i games/that era of CD-ROM gaming that recently released. As mentioned, Rob worked on it alongside myself & other talented folks. You can check it out here:
Hi everyone, the attention I've received has been pretty overwhelming - I'm floored by the positive impressions.
However, I'd like to stress this is a free, not-for-profit endeavor, and mostly a learning exercise for me. As such, I'll be removing the game from download shortly.
It was difficult to get Arzette's many background-less videos working in GameMaker. There are functions that would've made it *much* easier to do in Unity. But today I'm very grateful that I decided to stick with GM. I feel for affected Unity devs, I hope the changes don't stay.
To the dozens of streamers clogging up my email inbox: I love Tomba as well, but I'm afraid I did not develop the remaster and cannot give you a free key. I'm not sure why this is happening, but please direct your inquiries towards the lovely folks at LRG instead!
Having a wonderful time visiting
@PC98_Audi
and celebrating his birthday (a little late)! Believe it or not, the CD-i has only come up in conversation once.
Happy to announce I'm going to PAX East! I'll be hanging around the LRG booth throughout the event and participating in a panel about the Zelda CD-i games Saturday night. Come say hi if you're in the area!
Apparently if you beat Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon on some expert mode, you can replay the game as the King of Hyrule. Here is his caked up sprite on a ladder.
Just as a reminder, I have pulled the games from download. I have not received any formal notice, I pulling them early as a good-faith gesture. Thanks to everyone who has sent kind words, I really appreciate it.

As a fun side-project, I decided to make a randomizer mod for my CD-i remasters. It can randomize items, bosses, NPCs, and world unlocks. If you have an interesting random seed, you can also share it with the world! Have fun.
ICYMI, the CD-i remasters have had a final update by the community this past weekend. It adds six new languages, fixes dozens of bugs, and more. Check it out here.
I've been made aware that there's been a fan patch created for the remakes. After testing them, I can say that they're the definitive way to play now. Check them out, if you're so inclined.
It's been an honor to work with my good pal Mr. CD-i himself on this game. Audi's writing and sense of humor is a perfect fit for Arzette and I can't wait for you all to experience it.
Finally we can talk about this one! I am the producer and co-writer on this amazing CD-i Zelda successor from
@thedopster
! For all you fans out there, this is gonna be an amazingly fun adventure, that plays better than your wildest dreams!
