Devs pay 100 bucks a year for membership, build the real value of the platform and everyone pays premium for the cake. Yeah, I think we should be allowed to eat the cake.
@TimSweeneyEpic So you get to make 100% of the money from an App hosted by Apple, distributed by Apple and running only on Apple devices? You can’t have your cake and eat it too. And I don’t buy the whole “Game consoles are a loss leader” explanation for why you don’t go after MS or Sony.

Why is this ridiculous and completely useless? 99% of apps use UserDefaults to store some state, like whether it’s the first launch. It’s privacy theatre at its finest. Bad actors can simply store it in a file or database instead.
UserDefaults now an API that requires a declared reason to use. Wow. https://t.co/uvQhDIRuFw

I admit I have a love/hate relationship with Makefiles. And I just found "just". https://t.co/d5LxQip0e8 Maybe worth trying as an alternative.

"Speed and Ambition" sadly isn't quite enough. As it stands, this is really bad for Open Source. https://t.co/gCco02HGEV Yet again: Well intentioned but badly executed.

Less than one year after we proposed a #CyberResilienceAct to protect consumers and businesses from products with inadequate security features, the EU Council just adopted its general approach 👏 #SpeedAndAmbition 🇪🇺

It's great to see critical conversations staying so productive - or at least friendly. We need more of this. And it's a great summary of the beef I have with k8s.
@jnardiello Total lack of elegance, and hence a huge complexity to understand and operate it. Open source license but company driven effort and lock-in effect of complexity itself. And in the community side, the insanely huge push to use it when not needed (most of the times).

PSA if you’re using @Cloudflare - their grace period on bills is FIVE days INCLUDING weekends and bank holidays. 🥲 I would strongly suggest all users add a backup payment method, and I would also strongly suggest Cloudflare to rethink their grace period considering how integral

Bottom line: Never think big means safe. And good support does matter.

Just recently I tried to call VISA(!). They recently(?) changed their phone support system. There was a problem with the setup. I was getting redirected to a number that does not exist. I had to work around it by getting to the wrong support person to reach anyone at all. 🤷♂️

So many people think "I use that BIG company. It won't go away. I am safe." while I sweat exactly the scenarios like this. Their processes are f'ed up and you cannot reach any sensible human support person.
Hey @Cloudflare my card expired and it looks like you suspended my service because an invoice is 5 days overdue, surely you don't suspend business customers after 5 days??

💯 As always there is a middle ground between moving fast (and breaking things) and waiting for perfection. Users have high demands and unless you have flood gates of users waiting, things not breaking is important, too.
"Move fast and break things" is outdated advice for startups. Software ate the world—and there's more competition than ever. Our startup learned the hard way to ignore this advice, and this is what happened:

Check your Twitter settings if you want anyone to start a DM conversation with you.
Twitter has introduced a restriction in the settings. By default, now only twitter blue subscribers can start DM conversations. This can be changed in the settings. Changes were made for everyone, without informing users.

They pulled the plug on EU users on "the other place" and I hate not being able to reply. It's a mix of FOMO and not wanting to be perceived as rude.

It's baffling how to this day, Telegram is still the only messenger app that takes developers seriously. Why would you *not* want to be the platform developers build text, or voice-based AI interactions on?
a16z just released a massive open-source companion AI repo on GitHub today🤯 🔮My prediction: this will be the MOST popular repo in a month. Chatbot companions are taking off. They have a clear product-market fit. I'll be tinkering with this repo to extend my own agents!

@thorstenball 99% of SwiftUI educational problems would be solved if the framework was just open source. 😭 I don’t see the value in keeping it closed, its just not Apple’s way I guess.

Ending that post in "Here is a thread" would have been so perfect.
Elon musk gave best reason why not to #buildinpublic There are competitors with leverage who can copy everything you share and use their leverage to grow beyond Thoughts?

Wow - this in browser ESP32 simulator really is amazing! https://t.co/BfBQL9SpsI
Wokwi is really an amazing tool. Test your embedded code (including Rust) on a simulated ESP32, and when you're happy, flash the real device directly from your browser!

This has a certain vibe. Let's hope he isn't a secret Elizabeth Holmes fan.
The founder of @Spotify just raised $65M for his new AI healthcare company: Daniel Elk, has announced Neko Health, with the goal of preventative healthcare via full-body scans backed by AI. Each scan takes 10 minutes and costs ~$317. The company was originally founded in 2018,
