A while back I've (finally) added search to the website. You can access it by using ⌘/Ctrl + K, or by clicking on the icon in the navbar.
And yesterday we've drafted a new QoL release that lets you override the internal ids we use in elements.

Migrated the entire Melt org from Vercel to Cloudflare. Which means I get to save 20 USD a month! Amazing.

Alright, did the test on my Mac M1. The test was with a simple Hello World app, no styles or JS added.
Really surprised with Qwik! And with Astro, which I thought would be faster. Happy that SvelteKit is quite good too.

Vue also looks clean, and can be replicated similarly in Svelte, if anyone dislikes the await block.
React's too verbose. Data-fetching is especially nasty because you have to nest the async function inside the useEffect to avoid useCallback. Or not use

Overall I'm really happy with the direction Svelte is going. Much more flexible, while still designing things with a lot of intent and thought behind it, rather than just following the fray.

Okay, so IMO the biggest advantage of Runes is code reusability. I prepared an example of a scenario where:
First: You build a Counter component
Second: You want to abstract that logic into a JS file for code reuse across components
Third: You use that abstracted logic inside

A lot of people are importing naming conventions from React to Svelte, mainly the `use` term.
This can be confusing, seeing as Svelte already reserves `use` for actions.

Something that made Svelte runes $state 'click' for me. Which explains why it can't be exported and used directly.
$state is meant to represent a variable. You can't normally export a `let` variable and modify it directly, or get the newest value.

Progressive enhancement tip!
If you want to conditionally apply CSS styles only when JS is enabled, while avoiding FUOC, you can add a tiny <script> tag at the start of your body.
You can then conditionally set styles this way!
See the thread for a simple example.

This reminds me why we model most UI components in
@zag_js
with vanilla DOM methods and State machines.
Most components can be built without framework-specific code. The DOM is quite robust ✨
Frameworks are tools; our role as engineers is to know which tool to use per time.
