@ChShersh Without standardization the idea of transparency for endpoints in tooling like chrome devtools impossible And agreed, the proliferation of JSON is a huge reason why it's possible to easily spin off api clients in any language given a spec What I'm commenting on here is the part

I really want to agree with this But the fact that there are so many competing binary standards even today makes me think it wouldn't ever have worked
JSON over network was a mistake. We should’ve stuck to binary encoding and just improve the tooling to view binary data in a human-readable format.
