South Western Railway was nationalised by Labour in May. Since then: 🫷Cancelations are UP 50% 🫷Delays are UP 29% 🫷Trains 30-60 mins late more than DOUBLED I understand why the unions want nationalisation, but how is it helping passengers or the taxpayer?

The @BTP pulled these stats — why hide them from passengers? Crime recorded on the SWR network (last 12 months vs year before): Violence 🔼18% Sexual offences 🔼12% Trespass 🔼33% Robbery 🔼20% Cable theft 🔼100% Public order 🔼26% Source: FOI request. DM for details.

Earlier this year, South Western Railway was the first network brought into state ownership as part of Labour's nationalisation plans. What has happened since? A summer of reduced service and a sharp increase in delays and cancellations.

The @BTP has denied passengers online access to crime statistics for months, and our recent FOI request yielded a large, unhelpful data dump. Why the lack of transparency? @SW_Help @Heidi_Labour @railandroad

From DfT release about GTR/GWR/Chiltern etc: "SWR has tripled the number of new trains in service in the four months since it came under public ownership..." that timeframe was announced BEFORE SWR went in-house, so while it happened, it's not due to nationlisation.

Thank you, @GWRHelp. I expected my claim for a complex journey to be rejected, but it was approved on the first try. Meanwhile, I've waited weeks for a simple claim with @SW_Help (after multiple appeals). Putting passengers first, @Heidi_Labour?

We've submitted a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to @SW_Help. The includes questions the MD and Commercial Director declined to answer in our recent correspondence, along with some additional points. We'll provide an update once we receive a rely. @Heidi_Labour

Good evening @GWRHelp. Your train was cancelled earlier, but subsequent connecting Southern services were too. Who should I send my Delay Repay claim to, to avoid it being passed back and forth?

Good afternoon @SW_Help The platform screens have been broken at Milford for several weeks now. Are there any plans to address this? They are either showing 'South Western Railway' or outdated departure info. Not good!

@We_OwnIt Bring back franchises. Or more open access. Nationalisation has always meant Gov just sees rail fares as train tax to be maximised. And rail investment as a burden to be cut.

Good morning @SW_Help. We've seen concerning correspondence about your interpretation of the Consumer Rights Act: "Unfortunately, we do not cover consequential loss..." Can you please clarify? @CMAgovUK @railandroad

@gceccles @swtrains_watch @LabourList @We_OwnIt @RachelReevesMP @Heidi_Labour Interesting to see in nationalised LNER’s accounts that its government subsidy more than doubled from £36m to £89m between 2024 and 2025, according to the company’s filed accounts.

Rail fares: traditionally, next year's ticket price rises are in line with July's inflation rate, about to be revealed. Government says “No decisions have been made on next year’s rail fares.” How to turn around the belief we pay too much for poor service? https://t.co/JKUL2DHmtY

Some possibilities to increase faith in the railways: Offer railcards to people aged 31-59. Go 100% digital ticketing. Demand-based pricing (like low-cost airlines) including for last-minute fares. "Stand-up standbys" – cheap tickets if you don't have a seat. Increase fuel duty?

A compelling read. Your argument on commercial freedoms and boosting capacity is very persuasive, even if we don't see eye-to-eye on private rail investment. Will this be enough to convince policymakers? @LabourList @We_OwnIt @RachelReevesMP @Heidi_Labour
