We're lowering the minimum age for train drivers in Great Britain from 20 to 18 years old. This change will attract fresh talent to build up our rail workforce for the future, improving services by helping to prevent delays and cancellations on the network.

ICYMI: 380,280 pre-booked passenger assists were requested during rail periods 8 to 10 (13 Oct 2024 to 4 Jan 2025). This is up 21% on the same rail periods last year and the highest level recorded for these periods since the time series began in 2012.

ICYMI: 33,559 1-year Disabled Persons Railcards (DPRC) were issued during rail periods 8 to 10 (13 Oct 2024 to 4 Jan 2025) – increase of 21% on the same periods the previous year. 12,577 3-year DPRC were issued - increase of 48% on the previous year.
