When critics point to the lack of consistency in
@PawanKalyan
, they are not just talking about his swing from the Right to the Left and back again. Kalyan's fault lies in the more fundamental skew from what his party presents as its core ideology.
It is disturbing to see white 'critics' applaud a garish and frankly absurd movie. If only they knew they are emboldening an industry that is not just chauvinistic but also casteist, misogynistic, homophobic and nepotistic.

In the last ten years of his political journey, Pawan Kalyan has seesawed from the Right to the Left and to the Right again, toying with what his party presents to be its core ideology. Here is my short profile of Kalyan the politician
Something I have learnt the hard way over the last couple of years is, 'never meet your heros'. You approach them with nothing but admiration and respect; only to be met with the hollow shell of a persona they display on social media.

At a combined Pawan Kalyan-Chandrababu Naidu rally I attended last month, the crowd chanted 'babulake babu, Kalyan babu' (the babu of all babus is Kalyan babu). This election will test his ability to translate this mass mania into votes. My short profile
A story is only as good as its editor. This piece would not have been possible without the brilliant and kind Abhay Regi who went beyond his brief as editor to talk me through all the stress and self-doubt.
In what is hands-down among the best

pieces from
@thecaravanindia
in a while,
@mayapalit1
draws from personal experience to delve into how the clinical ward and and the figure of the patient have been written about in recent fiction.
"Hospital" and "What Kingdom" are written from the perspective of patients inside psychiatric wards, leading to intimate, intense and claustrophobic portraits of confinement and surveillance, and insights into how such spaces alter perceptions of time.
A superb critique on Telugu cinema. Delves into how the genesis of the Tollywood "god-hero" was rooted in caste assertion, which in turn bred present-day fandoms. This was long overdue.

That the

are very alike when it comes to maintaining caste hierarchy is what I argue in my piece for
@thecaravanindia

It's not just Ramoji Rao's stature that has prompted Naidu to carry his corpse around the pyre. TDP has for several years benefited from the explicitly favorable coverage showered by all entities of Rao's sizable media empire, much before the emergence of godi media.

@tushamittal
has proved once again that good old ground reportage can translate into a potent narrative. Through tens of interviews and over a hundred police reports, her story details how a state targets people for something as innocent as holding a bible
These numbers just don't make sense. BJP is contesting from six seats and IndiaToday-Axis poll is predicting it could win all six of them. BJP's vote share in 2019 'assembly' elections was a negligible 0.84% and their leadership has mostly remained where it was. Laughable.
Decades before
