We introduce an ARG-inspired data structure Genotype Representation Graph (GRG) to enable lossless data compression, efficient computation through graph traversal. Developed a fast inference method. Cost ~80 GBP to convert 350TB VCF (200,000 UKBiobank WGS) into 160 GB GRG.

Mani Bhavan in Mumbai was Gandhi's headquarters for almost 2 decades (1917-34) and from where he launched most of his anti British satyagrahas 💪

Saw a copy of this letter at Mani Bhavan yesterday. I knew Gandhi had written (unsuccessfully) to Hitler before Poland, but I had no idea that this was the tone

Apparently in India personal college admission counsellors charge up to 15 lakhs (18,000 USD!!) per student JUST to help them write essays/forms I'm trying to convince my cousin's son that it's not necessary to employ these "counsellors" But maybe my knowledge bis out of date?

Q for people who teach undergrads, have college admission age children, or just know stuff worldwide: Is a professional college admission counsellor now necessary for helping you prepare your college admission?

Why are people still flying to climate conferences by private jet? London to @COP28_UAE in Dubai, by private jet travel is 11x more polluting than a commercial flight. 315 private jets went to COP27 in Egypt more going to Dubai - why! #ClimateChange https://t.co/0qGy4CrBgU

I have avoided using this platform for politics / current affairs and have tried to restrict myself to science, but with current events, this is no longer possible. Here are some thoughts about what is happening. It is long and rambling. Apologies. 1/24
