“The message from Caerphilly is very clear to me: One-third of the vote is not enough to get Reform elected, if the other two-thirds get their act together.”

- "Alan Carr has a poker face like lasagne in a tumble drier." - "And I have never seen anyone wear a cloak so badly. He looks like a drawing on the front of a Terry Pratchett novel." 😂 Probably enjoyed ourselves a bit too much on today's ep. @mrkennycampbell @sturdyalex

I cycled in a storm, with a numb face and period pain, to a different polling station, after root canal surgery to cast my vote for Labour in this council by-election. LABOUR HOLD! Get fucked, Reform.

“She’s demanding an Ottoman millet system.”🙄😂 What utter rubbish Nick. Your nonsense used to be tiresome but your attempts to other, malign and demonise is now becoming dangerous. The law in this country protect Jews and Sikhs both as a racial and religious people and thus
This is nonsense. “Communities” aren’t equal before the law. Individuals are. Muslims like Christians aren’t a race. Religious discrimination is already illegal. What legal religious privileges do Jews and Sikhs have and others lack? She’s demanding an Ottoman millet system.

The council says union jack flags will be flown in 82 locations in a bid to foster "community spirit".

The only things in this entire sorry mess truly deserving of investigation is what has happened to The Times under Gallagher. This used to be a venerable newspaper of record ffs. It's now frequently more partisan than the Mail and more of a gossip rag than the Express.
Look how deftly Swinford skirts over the fact that the word "enemy" was removed from the statement under the Tories and concludes "questions for Starmer to answer". https://t.co/MhWo9faN8F

Lots of developments on the collapse of the China spy trial this afternoon: * Matt Collins, the Deputy National Security Adviser, deleted a description of China as an enemy from a statement drafted on his behalf by officials * He says that his statement was subsequently sent to

Fascinating that both of these people were considered on the soft centre-right of the Tory Party not so long ago.

@SteveNickSmith Treating Reform UK as a new entity in Wales is so silly as to be bizarre, given they are simply the latest iteration of The Farage Party. So, yes, I think on this lovely John is talking out of his behind. I'm sorry if that offends your forelock-tugging sensibilities. x

@SteveNickSmith If you want to know my view, I don't disagree with Curtice's take re Labour. I disagree with it re Reform. I think his "take-aways" have entirely the wrong focus. Pollsters seem to be struggling to adapt to a multi-party environment. So, I would urge less reverence on your part.

@SteveNickSmith "Labour boosters," shows an interesting lack of research. And the idea that anyone deemed a "guru" never gets it wrong is troubling for an FT journalist. Having discussed this sort of thing with Curtice himself several times, I think he would find it particularly funny.

"We've got it in the bag," they said, with four years to go. Such incredible complacency echoed by hundreds of Reform UK sockpuppets today.

Nigel Farage, four weeks ago: "We intend to win this by-election. We will throw everything at it." Tap-dance all you like now.

I see quite a lot of "Reform getting 36% from a standing start is remarkable" and feel I need to point out that the "standing start" narrative is a fake Reform talking point and needs to be treated with care. It's a consolidation of left and right vote in a smart, strategic way.

Poor analysis. This is a disaster for Farage. Polls were showing RefUK winning in close result. Losing by 11% signposts Plaid to all of Wales as THE tactical choice for Senedd Elex. "Something is happening out there" alright. People are uniting to tell Farage to feck right off.
“The biggest drop Labour have ever suffered in a by-election in Wales” Plaid Cymru has won the Caerphilly by-election as Labour loses the seat for the first time. Professor John Curtice tells #R4Today why this is so significant.
