And this (wonderfully explained) is why our curriculums and progression models must be expertly sequenced and allow enough time before moving on. A well sequenced curriculum is useless if students haven't grasped the concepts before advancing.
Expertise isn't about having more working memory, it's about needing less of it. Experts automate many components in long-term memory and can recognise meaningful patterns instantly, bypassing the need to process individual elements. ⬇️ 🧵.

3 years ago I took a punt on an unknown and relocated to work at a brand new school. Now I can't imagine working anywhere else. It has been an incredible journey so far and I'm excited for what's to come next. Our community of staff and students is truly exceptional and unique!.

Fantastic day @BrianClarkeAcad! Meeting new Year 7s, exciting trips and launching Year 9 in to KS4. Our founding cohort of students did themselves proud today and started their journey to excellence in summer 2027.
