“This is not a respectability project to distinguish sex work from other forms of criminalized activity… rather, we seek to problematize the political constructions of illegality and risk themselves.”

A gargantuan effort by @ZahraStardust @MissLoreleiLee @MistressBlunt @KateDAdamo @rachelkuo and myself, we hope to inspire new thinking in tech about the conflation of sex with harm.

Our erotic imaginations are more creative than simply accepting death cult definitions of tech. Hot take, I know. But every new technology is an opportunity to fuck up the status quo. I believe we can do better than yelling at it.

the convolution of sex with harm by Apple in 2008 has totally defined who gets to innovate at scale for the last 14 years

the degree to which innovation in even the slightest of edgy spaces has been curtailed due to apple is really underappreciated, I think. If you're making an app, you have to get approval from apple for any chance at success; they're like a defacto government

The many projects and organizing efforts of @decodingstigma co-organized by Gabriella Garcia (@stabriella). We specifically want to amplify their workshops with @hackinghustling and a new interactive platform being developed by the org called Browser Histories.

Voluntary sex work "would be a lot safer if it were decriminalized," says @Aella_Girl. She's right.

It would be far easier to prosecute sex trafficking if voluntary sex work were legal.

In the first article, she talks about the online/offline binary in sex work discourse, and why thinking of one as inherently more dangerous doesn't take into consideration complex intersections:

The irony of swerfs going on about ‘hidden voices’ is that there are loads of people who are or were sex workers who cannot speak openly about their experiences because of the stigma that they pedal. They actively uphold barriers to people sharing lived experience of sex work. 1/2

For @Chicago_Reader I wrote about @HeauxHistory archiving the history of Black and Brown sex workers. Sex workers rights are human rights & leaving them out of history — it’s simply inaccurate.
