TOO MANY MEN, whether through action or inaction, are perpetuating a culture of sexism that breeds inequality and that leads to violence

This morning I went to my church for the last time. It has been home for the last 6 years. It has sustained my faith in so many ways and gotten me through so much. But I can no longer be in a space that isn’t safe for me as a queer person. (1/2)
My granddad just rang to encourage me to apply for the Chief of Staff post for the Archbishop of Canterbury
@CottrellStephen
. When I told him it was about 60k above my pay grade, he told me to stop underestimating myself.
I love Strava, but it can get so competitive when you follow lots of people and everyone’s captions read, “Such a slow run today” (even though it was faster than my PB). Must remember: Comparison is the thief of Joy
@runningchannel
I felt called to stay in the church despite its non-affirming stance for so long, to challenge their views and to be an affirming presence. But this takes its toll, and I am so tired. I am so deeply sad that it has come to this. But today I said my final goodbye. (2/2)
Rev'd Derek Arnold and Rev'd Sue Davies-Fletcher were invited to come and pray for 'Authentic Burgers', a new business in Westward Ho! Tom and Oliver, along with their van, were sprinkled with water as Derek shared a Prayer of Blessing for their new venture and the season ahead.
TODAY IS MY 25TH BIRTHDAY…
… So what better time to share with you all that I am moving to London in September to study MA Religion (focusing on interfaith and religion and politics) at
@KingsCollegeLon
@kingstrs
! Very excited for this next chapter 📚
SOME PERSONAL NEWS 📣
I’m so pleased to share with you all that next week, I will be joining the incredible team at
@SCM_Britain
as their fundraiser!
I’m so excited for this new challenge and would really appreciate your prayers as I find my feet! 🎉🎉
Really excited to let you know that after a great summer secondment working in comms at the Diocese of Bristol
@diobrizzle
, I will now be joining the team permanently as Engagement Coordinator! Please pray for me as a start this role.
I will not be engaging in
#synod
tweeting this week. My one reflection is that we’ve been here before, we’ve had this debate, we’ve done the vote.
Let’s stop gaslighting LGBTQI+ Christians into thinking we should still be having this conversation.
📣 Some personal news…
In July, I will be moving on from Bristol and my jobs at the Chaplaincy and Diocese. I don’t know what is next, but I’m hoping to do some travel and work abroad. I am very sad to be leaving the city that I love but also very excited for what is next!!
I love that churches often give out daffodils on Mothering Sunday. But it makes me so uncomfortable that the people giving them out have to make a decision as to who they think could be mothers…
Happy Valentine’s Day! A year ago today my ex ended our relationship, and it broke my heart. I have spent the past year learning to love myself and to be happy. If you are having a tough day today, remember that loving yourself is 100% the most important thing ❤️
Oh
@greenbelt
my heart is full. You have given me a home and a space to be me since I was 16. Thank you for all the memories and friends. See you next year for

Four years ago today I started my General Synod journey as a youth observer. Much has changed since then, but with no youth reps on Synod anymore, I’m not sure it’s for the better.

@churchofengland
@GSmisc
@JustinWelby
Can now officially confirm, and am so proud to say, that I am graduating top of my year in Theology and Sociology BA at the Univeristy of Bristol, in a cohort size of one person.
📣 I am SO EXCITED to share that
@VicAnneTurner
’s book 'Young, Woke and Christian' is now out and is available at all the usual places 📣
Inside you can read my chapter on interfaith engagement, alongside others on different areas of social justice and activism 🎉
After a long game of Tetris this morning, my bags are now packed and I am ready to go. Tomorrow morning, I’m heading off on a solo interrail trip around Europe. Follow my journey on Instagram at

A bientot.
Just finished
@vickybeeching
Undivided. You have, for a long time now, been such a role model and source and inspiration for me. Thank you for sharing your story. It means to much to so many.
Happy New Year all! I managed to achieve some of my 2022 goals, but didn’t quite manage others, and that’s okay!
It’s great to set targets, but less great when your self-worth depends on achieving them.
Once again, my 2023 goals are about being a happy and healthy Sophie 💕🌈
And just like that, my time as a member of the General Synod of the Church of England has come to an end. It has been a privilege and honour to represent young people at Synod over the last few years ✨
SOME PERSONAL NEWS 📣
I’m pleased to finally share that, last month, I joined the
@faithbelieforum
team as a Programme Coordinator, focusing on London youth and local communities. It's been great to get stuck in so far!
If you think we could work together, drop me a message!
Upset that in the first 45 mins off my run, three different men made me feel uncomfortable, one by beeping from his van, one by making a comment as a ran by and one by staring at my crotch. Grim.
I am pleased to announce that, from tomorrow, I will be working in a summer secondment role within the Communications Team at the
@diobrizzle
, under
@sallycordwell
. Very excited for a new challenge/adventure! Please do pray for me as I start this role remotely.
Just had a phone call from my mom that our lovely pup Luna is at the vet and it doesn’t look like she will make it through the night. She’s had bad health for a long time but is still young. If you are the praying type, please do x
I've kept this relatively secret, but...
Today is my last day working for
@SCM_Britain
! I've learnt and grown so much as SCM's Fundraiser, and am so grateful to
@SCM_Britain_CEO
and the team. Thank you! I will, of course, always be part of the SCM Family ❤️
The last 24 hours of observing the General Synod of the Church of England have been intense and emotional. But it all ended with tears of joy.
Justice has prevailed. God is good. 🏳️🌈

Every day women take the long, well lit route home. They call their friends/parents/partners. The text their housemates to say they are on route. They run through the less lit areas.
Everyday, women are assaulted, raped and killed.
Some awful news has just been published about a sexual abuser in the church I grew up in. Feeling pretty confused and upset. Please pray for the church and the victims of abuse.

I’ve been running Parkrun’s since 2015 and have been slowly chopping down my time. The last few months I have been training for a sub-25 min, so am so chuffed to hit 25:01 today! Just need to shave off 2 seconds to hit my target! 🏃🏽♀️

Today, I ran my first half marathon
@bathhalf
. Despite the fact that the weather was pretty foul, I am proud to say that I definitely ran my best race. What a special day!
I am so proud of myself for how far I have come as a person and a Christian over the last 3 years. GONE are the days when I took shit from people about my faith. I now live for God in the way he calls me, not other people.
Rather excitingly, yesterday marked one month since I started solo travelling! Though it is scary at times, I am really enjoying it - I love the freedom to explore and have met some amazing people!
I love representing young people at
#synod
, but it is one of the most anxiety-provoking things that I do. When waiting to be called to speak, I often am shaking and feel so sick.
Have found so much peace in spending time and singing in church over the last week. Thank you
@ASCBristol
for keeping your doors open.
This is one of my favourite pieces, reminding us of what Jesus gave up for us. Of course, I would rather be singing with my choir.
Just hit my running target for the year. It was hard work, but I’m so glad that I made it! Running and wild swimming are two things that have kept me going through 2021. Here is to another year of adventure!
Suddenly overwhelmed with emotion at how much I love Greenbelt, and how much it has shaped my faith and my life. Thank you to everyone who makes It possible, and to all the amazing people that I have met along the way.
I love you

Why is everyone talking about Matt Hancock’s affair and not the £37bn of taxpayers money he spent on a failed track and trace system?
📣It📣is📣a📣distraction📣
Greenbelt, thank you for this weekend, and for the last ten years. With you, I laugh, I cry, I learn more about myself, others and the world.
You are beautiful, you are my home.
