Where we are headed 🚀. Solidity has naturally grown as a set of compiler hardcoded, built in functionalities requested by users that keep increasing the complexity of the language as more features are added. Our next goal is to develop a simplified, leaner core language that is.

What about 2025? 🤔. Ongoing work this year:.- ethdebug: better debugging for the IR pipeline.- Collaboration with Project GreY to improve Yul IR -> EVM bytecode transformations.- SSA CFG optimisations to speed up compilation times.

A lot of our focus was to also improve the Yul optimizer and make the new IR compilation pipeline faster. Recent improvements:.- Newer, faster Yul optimiser step sequence. - Caching of optimized IR to speed up optimization of contracts with bytecode dependencies. - Generating.

In 2024, we introduced some of the longest awaited and highly requested features by the community:. - Transient storage (EIP-1153): Opcodes, parser support for transient storage variables, and finally full support for value types!.- Explicit storage layout.- Custom errors in.

The year 2023 came with various feature updates:.- Support for defining operators on UDVTs.- Allow qualified access to events from other contracts.- Stack-to-memory mover always enabled via-IR.- File-level event definitions.- Optimizations for unchecked loop increments.- Support.
