Also while I’m tweeting, huge thanks to several folks for hosting me last month on a journey where I got to connect with neuroscience in India. This began with a great symposium on autism and visit to Sourav Banerjee’s lab @DBT_NBRC. 1/2.

Finally, lithium treatment, which we previously found rescues synaptic and behavioral abnormalities in Tbr1 cKO mice, also seems to reverse at least some of the observed abnormalities in neural activity. 4/n.

Similar to our prior finding in Shank3 KO mice, multineuron coordination in social ensembles is diminished by Tbr1 cKO. The inability of neurons to act synergistically & encode social information via correlated activity may be a convergent feature of diverse autism models. 3/n.

Using neural networks, we found PFC social ensembles that undergo re- (and pre-) activation, plus ensembles which predict approach/avoidance decisions. These signals are all lost in Tbr1 cKO mice. 2/n.

New work online! Led by Marc Turner in collab w/ Rubenstein lab. We studied how disruptions in autism genes alter neural activity to produce abnormal behavior in Tbr1 cKO mice & in the process, found new aspects of PFC socioemotional encoding 1/n
