@wesstreeting If you admit the shortage of training places is a crisis, why are you using it as a bargaining chip? Patients are waiting hours in A&E and months for appointments. 30,000 doctors applied for just 10,000 posts this year alone. Your offer of 2,000 over 3 years doesn’t fix it.

it's not just anaesthetists. It is surgeons as well. So many post CCT surgeons are willing to cut the waiting lists, but they can not because there are no jobs for them due to recruitment freeze/lack of funding.
Hospitals hit by a 15% anaesthetist gap, 2,147 doctors short (1,571 consultants, 576 specialists), fueling surgery delays. 🚨8% daily surgery delays 🚨7.41m treatments pending Without urgent investment in training, waiting lists will keep growing. https://t.co/Ay1ItPj9B1

Suddenly, you're 27. You make your coffee, rush to work, come home around 7, and you're too tired to do anything except eat, scroll on your phone, and pass out. Then you wake up, and do it all again. And when Friday comes, maybe you go out, or maybe you're just too tired.

You don’t see neighborhoods like this anymore because most young parents don’t own homes. Less than 5% of mortgage holders are under 30 in major metros, and the average homeowner is over 50. That’s why most neighborhoods or suburbs feel empty, they’re owned by older people whose

He’s not wrong. Anecdotally, many second gen Hindu Americans who rediscover religion do so through American wellness culture (yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, etc.)
Her children were going to be 'not Hindu' no matter who she married, because folk religions require the folk to survive; they're not 'suitcase religions' (the best example of which is Judaism, second Islam). Even with the presence of the folk, such as in dense Indian enclaves of

It doesn't matter if you train more 'generalists' if the training is crap! Our training is already quite long, but it can be shortened and made more efficient if a proper overhaul actually happened. Problem is there's no desire on the ground for this to happen. Training takes
The NHS should train more doctors as generalists instead of requiring them to pick a medical specialism early in their career, a think tank has said

It's worthwhile noting that specialty training posts aren't optional - the NHS and patients need them to exist in order for health services (both public and private) to exist. This shouldn't be anything to do with negotiations.
Health and Social Secretary @wesstreeting: “My message to resident doctors: the fewer doctors who go on strike, the more specialty jobs I can afford to create.”

The cheat code nobody talks about: Being reliable. Answer emails quickly. Show up on time. Do what you said. Keep small promises. Remember details. In a world where everyone is flaky, reliability looks like genius. It's not talent.

you’ve truly won in life if you have 5 friends around ur funeral pyre…singing and bidding you farewell…
Sarabhai's fangirl heart always felt happy hearing the title song from their reunion but it totally shattered seeing them singing like that 💔😭 A team who lived like a family for so many years is left broken💔 God is unkind sometimes #Anupamaa #RupaliGanguly #Satishshah

As a surgical resident (a clown) in the midst of ITU doctors (proper medics), these guys are next to miracle workers. That clinical physiology and pharmacology and biochemistry you learnt in school, you will see it in real life. Absolute respect.

I struggle to understand how there isn’t widespread alarm and panic in medical leadership about the hardships young doctors face and their bleak future. I cannot believe the lack of discussion and planning around neighbourhoods and postgraduate medical education reforms over the

This thread created a bit of a stir. But as one of the few doctors trained in HoM, I think it's important to elaborate WHY I think this type of 'research' is such a problem. A thread on HoM. 🧵

Festivals are moments of “collective effervescence” , where communities experience transcendence and reaffirm shared values. When reduced to entertainment, festivals lose this function. They cease to be carriers of cultural memory and become mere spectacles.
