We often discuss ethics as if it is a cherry on top, but it is not. Ethics is what your cake is made of.

the "appropriate privacy" is not to build with backdoors and trusted parties, luckily we are progressing towards consensus that "pragmatic privacy" (i.e. building for more surveillance) is not what onchain finance should be.

10/ Privacy is not absolute; privacy is appropriate flow of information. It is up to all of us to define what "appropriate" privacy is for onchain finance. The challenge of onchain privacy is not really a technical one, but rather a lack of progress towards clear social

@mpeytonjones @RYChappell Yepp, i think we’re on the same page. Except that I take ethics to be fundamentally about decision procedures, and therefore am writing a post about how modern academic moral philosophy should be understood as doing “philosophy of ethics” rather than ethics itself.

Contemporary analytic philosophy would instantaneously achieve a new level of self-consciousness if it simply acknowledged that many of its central disputes are first and foremost battles between philosophical metaphors.

The rise of the philosopher-builder-systems thinker-pragmatist is quickly replacing the ideologically driven/sycophantic cohort of crypto leaders. Accordingly, crypto liquid markets are no longer rewarding bad ideas, they are instead actively punishing them.
