"GP practices were denied funding to cover the National Insurance rise because they are, in fact, private sector organisations according to the Treasury. Yet they are not eligible to NI reimbursements that are open to small private sector companies because they are, er, public

While our colleagues in other branches of practice are on a journey towards some degree of pay restoration it looks like we’re in for unsustainable cuts. @OHaganFrances @ArnieMcDowell @AlanStout19

The average GP practice in N Ireland is underfunded by at least £100k per year due to repeated underfunding and the GP service is no longer viable. Radical change needed.
GP Practice is not being funded to provide care for patients Of the £181bn NHS budget just £10bn goes to provide GP services, just £164 per patient per year (for everything as often as people consult) and this is a real terms cut of 20% in the past 7 years It’s impossible

Run that past me again Nadine, people take taxpayers' money to do a job but then just head off to Australia?
My @DailyMailUK column today. We tax payers pay half a million £ to train a doctor and when they are qualified, almost half of them from some medical schools head to Australia or NZ. Time to impose pay back!

. @SteveBarclay @Jeremy_Hunt I can’t emphasise enough how critical it is for you to fix pension taxation *properly* and *quickly* I don’t mean half baked solutions that won’t work, I mean proper permanent solutions Don’t kill the NHS on your watch Fix. This. “Immediately” RT
Am just paying my pension tax. The one where I pay extra to go to work. Reducing my hours would save me money. This message arrives at the same time. If the government does not value its experienced doctors (and nurses etc) they will leave! @goldstone_tony

Last year 1 in 9 nurses left the NHS Nurses are earning £5000 less in real terms today than in 2010 The Tories won’t negotiate with RCN, appear determined to demonise them as greedy and selfish. This is a political decision. Could it be they want NHS to fail? #NursesStrike

Pay growth for the private sector was 6.9% Aug to Oct, and 2.7% for the public sector, says @ONS. The rejected pay offers to nurses, teachers and the rest are nowhere near private-sector settlements. It is no wonder there are crippling staff shortages throughout public services
