My latest Guardian piece. Until I moved to Wales, I never knew how badly it was treated. Working at a journo it became clear that not only is Wales treated like less of a country than Scotland, but that it has come to just accept this poor treatment. https://t.co/wP4rteQVG0

From the the Barnett formula to the humiliation of having an English ‘Prince of Wales’, you’d never catch Scotland allowing this treatment, says Guardian columnist Will Hayward

Earlier this week we were given a behind the scenes tour of Taff's Well Depot before the site is made operational in the new year. Thank you to the wonderful depot team and TfW engagement for having us!

LRT: it’s true, I’m hiring PhD student(s) to fire up the Labour Lab at @UofTInfoFaculty. We’re going to study how new tech and data tools reconfigure the workplace and think about how data tools and forms of tech expertise work to support the labour movement! Shoot me email/dm 👋

Guess what. My first @guardian column is out! I explore how both red & blue UK gov's are allowing Wales to be shafted over HS2. Just in case you don't know, HS2's defined as a England & Wales project, despite being solely in...you know...England https://t.co/cbYT034jAj

Thanks to a ministerial sleight of hand, the cost to Wales, already plagued by poor rail services, has been huge, says Guardian columnist Will Hayward

Three years ago I visited a large tract of unprotected ancient woodland near Trawsfynydd in Gwynedd. The 50 acre Coed Tyddyn Du and the adjacent 30 acre Coed Tyddyn Mawr. 1/5

Adaptive horns. In places that use horns in cars expressively, the cars listen to each other. The pitch of the next honk is adjusted so that the cars play as an ensemble.

We've been writing about segregation and selectivity in schools for a long time, but it's fantastic to finally be able to visualise it. Our interactive map, thanks to @TheNFER is here:
suttontrust.com
The map reveals the extent to which the socio-economic profile of a school’s intake reflects their catchment. It shows a pattern of some schools accepting lower numbers of disadvantaged pupils than live in their area, while others have much higher levels of disadvantage.

In Cardiff - No dedicated secure bicycle parking facility in the City Centre - No cycle hangars in residential areas - Cycleways rolled out incredibly slowly - Built Cycleways poorly linked up - No new traffic calming measures within residential areas https://t.co/ziUuqCu5rS

Despite government funding, rates of walking and cycling remain "stubbornly low", experts warn.

The most broken thing about the "For You" feed here is the absence of any sense of temporality. You get live tweets from sporting events 24hrs after they have finished. Tomorrow it will be GE speculations after the result is already known.

Active travel situation in Roath, Cardiff (Thankfully person appears okay) Complete lawlessness & getting worse. But dont worry…might get a connected up Cycleway by 2030 🤞just use the pavement for now (just dodge the cars parked on it) LTNs? FB & WalesOnline wont like that.

The idea of an "amber gambler" is quaintly anachrononistic. People just drive through red lights now.
