TfW last week announced the temporary closure of Ty Glas Station for 10 months for upgrades. The twin stations are renowned for having the closest distance between them of any stations in the UK. (see comparison with CDF) Why was a newbuild consolidated Station not considered?

Fantastic to see the new TfW tram-trains out on day time tests! They might be ugly, they might not have any toilets on them, but overall they will be transformational for the valley lines! Great to see the level boarding getting tested! Game changing for generations to come!

Cardiff Airport is dead. ยฃ20m could have funded an extra loop at Ebbw Vale Parkway and a new platform at Abergavenny, employing already available Cl 197 rolling stock, allowing for direct services between, and doubling the frequency of, the Newport (Ebbw + Llwyd) Valley Lines.
Welsh Government to give a further ยฃ20m to Cardiff Airport https://t.co/wVJckDssxH

James May: โObviously Iโve spent a lot of time over the years writing about cars and making TV about them, and I love cars, but I do think in my bones they donโt really belong in towns.โ โIt amazes me that people go to the shops a mile away in the car.โ https://t.co/jX37zCkiSS

I Would just like to make it clear that the staff who work on these sort of projects are extremely talented individuals who are absolutely appreciated and just doing their job. This issue does however need addressing by those at the top of the organisation and government.

.@transport_wales are set to permanently kneecap capacity at Cardiff Central and completely stifle any possibility of a frequent mainline metro that would be transformational to the South Wales economy and true rival and successor the M4 corridor.
Opinion Post: The North (Platform 0) development will be good for the station.๐ The South development permanently kneecaps metro and mainline capacity by inalterably confining the station to 8 platforms and fragmenting tram-train and mainline services. ๐ Elaborating below๐

To be clear, we're not suggesting that these capacity improvements would be able to happen right away, just that this (let's be honest, low investment) upgrade doesn't permanently kneecap mainline metro, regional and intercity capacity. Please leave your thoughts.
