The discovery of three ice-filled caves on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko opens a completely new window into how comets are built and how they breathe. Until now, most of what we knew about comet interiors came indirectly, from surface fractures, dust jets, and thermal models,

The Geminid meteor shower is almost here. One of my favorite showers for the dark winter sky, and how it coincides beautifully with Orion being at a good height in the sky. It is also a particularly active shower with 120 meteors an hour at peak.

Researchers at @TokamakEnergy have captured for the first time a real-time, high-speed video of plasma behaviour inside their ST40 spherical tokamak, tracking visible green and red light emissions as the fusion process occurs. This visual insight comes via a camera operating

Make sure you look up tonight; there will be another chance to spot the aurora! Its peak strength is forecast during the first half of the night. Check the weather where you are here: https://t.co/g1EgKkOwUf

I'm writing a long two-parter for my Substack today about Turning Point UK. What occurs to me, as a result of the BBC farrago, is that we are entering a phase of political danger where the Trump/MAGA movement is readying to pounce on the UK. TPUK is an arm of MAGA. Farage is an

This is, potentially, the most important piece of political data science carried out by a major news outlet, right now. What it proves, beyond doubt, is something a great many of us have been talking about for a long time. It mentions the over promotion of Rupert Lowe

Climate skeptics LOVE to post the chart shared by David below👇 - supposedly showing no correlation between CO2 and temperature over the last 600 million years! But... if you only knew the history of the chart (which we shall henceforth call 'the Heib mash-up'), you see how

@CaptainAdvance1 @ryankatzrosene There’s no correlation between CO2 & temperature. While CO2 levels have been much higher in the past. As for your denialism comment, this highlights that the climate change theory is not science, but a religion. You MUST believe otherwise you’re a heretic.

On this day 22 years ago: 2003 Halloween G5 storm #2.I observed this from my Bortle class 5 backyard. The aurora was jaw-droppingly bright. The reds, which covered half of the sky (probably more under darker skies) lit up everything. House white walls glowed crimson, I would cast

Just to be clear - given recent drivel on line - Comet 3I/Atlas is a comet, made of carbon dioxide and water ices and bits of other stuff. It is entirely natural in origin, its orbit is as expected and it will whizz around the sun and then disappear off into the galaxy again. If

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) peaks in the next 5-7 days - if you want to see the comet at its best, this is it! The brightness will more or less plateau around 4th magnitude. The comet is now the constellation Bootes, tracking southeast, visible in the evening sky right after dark.
