2025 Perseid meteor shower. Captured this morning from southern Minnesota. About 25 Perseid meteors. Each one left a nice green train. Sony A7s III with a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 art lens.

I spent some time this morning fixing a problem with this image I made of sprites I captured 6/20. Some frames were out of alignment causing some stars to be out of position and some doubling on the tower lights. This is a new version with the frames aligned.

Today a juvenile bald eagle swooped in and caught a squirrel. Soon after an adult came to supervise. Sometimes I wonder how much I miss when I'm not just standing looking out the window.

Happy Halloween. This is the spooky Halloween moon rise 2 years ago tonight. (spookiest image I captured today was an eagle eating a squirrel but that's not as Halloween like)

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) from 10/19/2025. Stars and comet stacked separately to avoid trails. Finally got this somewhat usable image together. It was a particularly difficult data set to process so it went on the back burner for a while.

Woohoo! My hardcover of @PecosHank's "Storm: Chasing Nature's Wildest Weather" has arrived. Now waiting for my Q-36 explosive space modulator to charge so I can blast open the box. I plan to skip to the section about TLEs if not distracted on the way.

Meteors from last night/this morning. Still a lot of activity. 27 meteors. I might start including only the best ones to save time.

On this day, 18 years ago tonight, I captured the first image of this composite of Comet 17P (Holmes) as it was undergoing an eruption. Here is a composite to show how it changed in position and appearance 10/25/2007, 10/29/2007 and 11/02/2007

Meteors from the night before last. 14 of them are likely Orionids. The Orionid meteor shower peaks tonight! Best time to look is in the early morning before it starts getting light. Meteors captured 10/19-10/20/2025

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) last night. This time a closer view using my telescope (Astrotech AT92). Average combine aligned on the comet to show star trails.

The sky was beautiful this morning with Venus and the crescent moon.

Some very nice meteors this morning. First clip has 3 at once! The last one is a very nice sporadic. The Orionid meteor shower peaks Tuesday night and is already fairly active. Taurids are also active and known for producing fireballs. Good time to watch the night sky!

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) from the night before last. In this image I stacked the stars and comet separately then re-combined them to avoid the trailing of the comet or stars from the motion of the comet.

Quick process of Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) from last night. Average combine to show star trails. I am working on a version with the stars removed and stacked separately. Captured at a 100mm focal length. Cropped to show detail.
