my 2024 manning clark lecture on the politics of energy transition is now available. we're facing a 'kodak moment'. thankfully, we're the lucky country… again! our politics is broken, but there's a new hope. video: https://t.co/63x06rXNgC text: https://t.co/EiBNMQ2UfL

.@ShackelWill, have you sat down & prepared a gantt chart from here to commercial operation of australia's first nuke? no, of course you haven't. i have. not my job to stick up for gov't, but AEMO sets out a very credible plan — barely changed since angus taylor was minister.
@simonahac Why not start now? The IAEA says new to nuclear countries can build in as little as 10-15 years. Australia has the regulators, experience and is building nuclear capability with AUKUS. The government doesn’t have a serious energy transition plan and you know it.

.@ShackelWill not a hope in hell #nuclear could contribute to australia's emissions reductions before 2035. …practically 🍩 chance it could help before 2045. if the nuclear sector could drastically slash its costs & deliver on time, maybe it could help… but not for decades.
Never believe a politician who says they're serious about the climate but Australia doesn't need nuclear. The government has had to admit today that current projections suggest they'll only reach 48% emission reduction by 2035 compared to their recently announced target of

angus is a deeply unimpressive politician… shocking media performer, managing to be both condescending and evasive… and he is overshadowed by significant number of scandals.
No wonder the Liberal Gen Z vote is a smouldering ruin. The Liberal strategy, if you can call it that, only works if voters don't think too hard, or at all. Angus versus basic scrutiny is like a wet tissue versus a pressure washer. https://t.co/ASzpVGRxHk

Jess Wilson’s elevation to VIC Liberal leader means Kew is now a must-win pressure point in 2026. In 2022, an 87 day independent campaign needed just 1,628 votes to turn Kew Independent. This time they’re starting early. Pledge/donate here: https://t.co/BMHDWt7M0q

Gambling ruins lives. It is absolutely unacceptable that the Albanese government will continue to choose vested interests over the wellbeing of Australians and hide behind a watered-down policy - if they ever introduce one. We need action on gambling harms now.

Dump Net Zero. End up with zero seats in the capital cities. Our latest poll for the Financial Review has Labor’s primary vote rising higher than May 3rd, while the Coalition has slumped to 24%. The Liberal Party itself is down at 20% and even that’s being propped up by the

Pressed to outline how the LNP will reduce emissions with their new energy plan, Sussan Ley says they’ll rely on “breakthrough technologies” in about “25 years time”😳 - ones not invented yet & “we’re not talking about today”🤔 There you have it. As bonkers as it gets. #auspol

i fully agree with @senbmckenzie:
Now is the right time to support net zero emissions by 2050 because the Government’s plan is right for the regions. It doesn’t tax Australians and our industries, instead it provides opportunity for decades to come. #auspol @the_nationals @thenationalsvic

@simonahac No matter how many elections are won on the need for “climate action,” the confected and contrived climate confusion machine rolls on. The kerfuffle over “net-zero” is merely the latest gambit in this decades old campaign to “flood the zone with shit,” to cite Steve Bannon.
