Vic Liberal leader Brad Battin is under fire after holding a rally with Firefighting union boss Peter Marshall to attack Jacinta Allan on a fire truck featuring a misogynistic “Ditch the Bitch” slogan. Abbott didn’t last long as leader after he did this, neither should Battin.

Wait… is this the same guy who lost $140,000 in a defamation case after he tweeted a homosexual MP engaged in “disgusting” acts that involved shit on body parts?. In that context, these allegations are absolutely wild!.

Labor’s Rob Mitchell lost his challenge to the 2007 result, with just 15 votes shifting (to Liberal Bailey, who described it as a “waste of money”). Kapterian should look ahead to 2028, as Mitchell (who’s still an MP) did after his case, and as Boele did in 2022.

The ongoing self-immolation of the Liberal Party continues. What’s the party’s most embarrassing legal action so far:. - This?.- The “Failed Nomination” Class Action?.- The (ongoing) VIC branch’s infighting?.

Conservative commentators will usually lament the disappearance of an Australia that never existed. Here they’re lamenting the disappearance of an Australia that never disappeared.

“I miss this Australia” bemoans Sky News commentator referring to… . [wait for it]. …the Sydney Royal Easter Show’s woodchopping event, which ended just 92 days ago. 😅. Don’t worry, entries are open for the Royal Melbourne & Perth Show competitions later this year.

22 fines totalling $7,606…. Organised contempt for publicly owned areas under environmental protection is pretty much without consequence. I can’t imagine the costs of surveillance and cleanup will even be covered by the minuscule fines.

Quite a piece in today’s AFR. Branches may be down 40% in the “bluest” seats in Victoria. It explains why Exclusive Brethren were deployed to Kooyong (which boasts half of the state’s rank-and-file), and why @CommunityIndeps’s community-first approach is so powerful.

Post-walkout, QLD-based ALGA President Matt Burnett returned to stage to confirm Webster’s remarks did NOT represent ALGA’s position. Last words belonged to Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Mayor Lacey, given the right of reply:. 4/. .

In the context of a Coalition agreement that nearly folded, following an election an opposition ran on “not standing in front of indigenous flags” after thinking a “No” vote was a blueprint for an election strategy, that a NAT MP remains on this failed path is significant. 3/. .

Hearing Australian Local Govt Association’s General Assembly (ALGA) was derailed by NAT MP Anne Webster today. Apparently her 20-min speech was so piercing in its dog-whistling it led to a board walk-off. Beginning with an anti-renewable rant, it apparently moved onto…. 1/. .
