The online pearl clutching about this is worse than the actual extinguishing. The core Jewish population of Poland is 0.0001% of the general population. It's extremely weird to be putting up menorahs in the parliament of a country like that. Not everything is a Chabad House.
When armchair champions of “armed struggle” make this argument they are asking us to forget the past quarter century in which armed struggle has been attempted again and again with the only result being the deterioration of the conditions on the ground.
If there’s an example of a struggle where pretty much every avenue other than armed struggle has been exhausted it’s Palestine. I wish this wasn’t the case, but I also wish Palestine wasn’t being genocided with the backing of the most powerful state on the planet.
The brand Al Arz Tahini (with the cedar tree) is an Israeli product. Boycott. It has Arabic writings to deceive you. And I am told it tastes like baked shoes.
The degree to which so many western leftists refuse to acknowledge basic and widely known facts about the Houthis simply to maintain their own naive worldview is completely baffling.
To acknowledge basic facts does not mean that we support the starvation of Yemen.

It’s literally their official banner and slogan and has been for two decades, two decades in which they’ve expelled and tortured the last remaining Jews of Yemen (specifically those that refused to go to Israel!)… this is common knowledge for anyone familiar with the subject.
Every single person I know who pays close attention to Palestine knew what Israel’s response would be from acclaimed researchers to random synagogue moms, but senior Hamas officials claim they did not.
Senior Hamas Official Mousa Abu Marzouk: Nobody Could Have Anticipated the Consequences of October 7; We Did Not Expect a Barbaric World War against Us, in Violation of International Law

It’s one thing that at one of the most Jewish unis in the country JVP couldn’t find a single Hebrew literate anti-Zionist Jew to work with them, it’s another that they broke the most basic principles of BDS at the same time
>35 years old
>Kissless handholdless virgin

Should I join Hamas bros or is it already over for me?
West Bank Settler shooting at Jewish Israelis.
This is a serious development and I imagine will jeopardize tactics used in the past by Israeli leftists and international solidarity activists to help Palestinians in the West Bank protect themselves from displacement.
Tl;dr: I was shot at today
Today I lost my innocence. For the first time in my life, someone shot at me, and I was afraid I wouldn’t come back home. He wasn’t a Hezbollah or Hamas operative, but a settler who didn’t want me documenting them destroying a Palestinian's farmland
I agree what happened in Tunisia is bad for the Palestinian cause, but it would be nice to see people who claim to be generally opposed to national chauvinism and fascist violence denounce it simply for its own evil and not for its lack of political utility.
Tibi was right, unfortunately some of my fellow left wing Jews and their allies are insistent on the left completely abandoning any fight against antisemitism and denying that antisemitism even exists outside of Zionist propaganda.
Ceding the entire ground to the right.
UCSF, *this* is antisemitic. Falsely equating attacks on Zionism w/attacks on Jews flattens our identity & makes our safety contingent on Israel. It fails to treat us as deserving respect in our own right.
Anti-Zionism is not antisemitism & never will be.
Retract this now.
Listen, anti-Zionism may actually be a form of antisemitism.
So we all need to start being comfortable with being antisemites for a while, until Judaism evolves.
How can Jews see this and not be reminded of our history? That our youth now resemble our own pogromist oppressors from Poland to France, North Africa, Yemen, and yes Palestine too. Aren’t we supposed to be a light unto the nations? This doesn’t bring you shame?
Antisemitic conspiracism is deadly. It caused the Pittsburg shooting, it caused the Colleyville shooting, and much more. It is a part of why every major synagogue in the country must have armed guards. Those who engage in peddling conspiracist thought are complicit in violence.
I have trouble understanding historical revisionism which erases racism and sectarianism against Jews in historic Palestine, the Palestinian cause is no less righteous without it. It’s hard to understand it as anything but antisemitism, accusations of Jews as duplicitous.

Columbia’s crackdown is obviously a violation of rights to free speech and makes no one safer, but fact remains that much of the Palestine organizing being done at Columbia was and still is antisemitic
You could block out Bree Newsome and Lexi Alex and it would be indistinguishable from a pair of neo-nazis, these are the waters we are all swimming in.
I can’t watch what Hindu nationalists are doing to Indian Muslims, and not immediately see the parallel with what Arab Nationalists did to Jews across the Arab world.
When you consider any individual Jew or Jewish communal institution who’s politics don’t fully align with yours a target this is what you produce. And yes it is unequivocally antisemitic to target a synagogue in such a way.
Same day a Seattle reform synagogue was defaced the second time this year, the last was on holocaust remembrance day, Orthodox synagogues had fake anthrax sent to their mailboxes, there’s a concerted effort in this country to intimidate Jews out of public communal life.
We aren’t and never have been, historically didn’t consider ourselves as such, that doesn’t mean the Europeans had the right to abuse us.
No one claims Romani are indigenous to Europe, that doesn’t lessen their right to fair and equal treatment and protection.
The whole premise of “Jews are indigenous to the Levant, even the ones who have lived in Europe for 1,800 years” has a corollary that they therefore *aren’t* indigenous to Poland, Germany, France, Spain, etc, the way Christian Europeans in those countries are. That’s despicable!
The irony of the head of the council of presidents mourning a member of Israeli/Palestinian Socialist Alternative, you would’ve called him a traitor before the war.
“It didn’t happen and if it did they deserved it” same formula for nearly every atrocity, genocide, and massacre from Armenia to Treblinka to Be’eri to Gaza
Tunisia is the only Arab majority country in which Jews are constitutionally guaranteed equality.
One of two which has any Jewish community left or in which we enjoy any state protection.
This is as good as it gets.
“This land, this Palestine, this Israel, does not belong to either Jews or Palestinians. Rather, we are compatriots who belong to the land and to each other. If we cannot live together, we surely will be buried here together.
We must choose life."

⚠️ Pro-Hamas rioters march outside a Jewish owned Falafel restaurant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, chanting:
“Goldie, Goldie, you can’t hide. We charge you with genocide”.
America 2023 folks.
We should hate the Houthis but never the people of Yemen, and it’s clear who’s going to suffer when Anglo-American imperialist muscle get flexed in the Red Sea
I find the “there is no Israeli left” line from the US left pretty disingenuous. The overall political spectrum is more right leaning but in proportion to the population the organized Israeli left is by some metrics as much as twice as large as the American left.
People are noting there’s no Israeli left because they’re all Zionists, and that’s broadly true. But we should notice how many US “leftists” turn into rabid imperialist running dogs when “land back” comes up—that’s the same phenomenon! Material interest in settler colonialism.
I understand it’s unsettling to see the proliferation of antisemitic stuff in the wake of the Chabad tunnel but that’s just a thimbleful of what’s coming if Israel is allowed to continue making “Jewish”synonymous with “genocidal policy”
While today Amalek is often interpreted in the chassidic fashion as an internal enemy within the self Yetzer Hara (bad inclinations) or Avodah zara (idol worship), there is no way to interpret this usage as anything but a call for genocide.
🚨Netanyahu is now going fully genocidal; calling Palestinians "Amalek" & citing the bible to justify their destruction!
The bible called to "utterly destroy all that Amalek have, & spare them not; but slay both man & WOMAN, INFANT & suckling, ox & sheep, camel & donkey"! (1/2)
The fact they’re trying to convince you that centuries of antisemitism is in fact an exculpatory factor rather than a damning one is the dead giveaway that they’re simply ok with antisemitism.
If you’re so committed to rejecting mizrahi identity why don’t you come out and say it? You’re Bukharan, not a Jew who’s family has any experience living in an Arab majority society. Why don’t you speak about the experience you do share of Jews from the former Soviet Union?
When you tell me to trust the testimonies of Zionist forces, as a Mizrahi Jew, I say pass.
Zionism had Israeli Jews dress up as our Iraqi neighbors and friends to massacre us, fellow Jews. Why? So that Mizrahi Jews would flee Iraq and help settle Palestinian homes cleared of…
I think I have more empathy for this girl than most other people posting about her, but I do have to remark that this is clearly a failure on her own part, and probably whatever community she grew up in, to construct a healthy and wholistic Jewish identity.
But because Israel sent a rescue team, in part because many Jews lived in the building, these sick people take the liberty to let their antisemitic imaginations and mouths run wild.
When Jewish life in a country has been reduced to the smallest fragment, or to nothing at all, the antisemite must now attack the memory of the Jew, to absolve himself of his sins.
A development to keep an eye on, Omdim Beyachad is organizing an aid convoy from Tel Aviv to Gaza anticipating confrontation with far right protesters blocking aid from coming in.

@JFREJNYC
Please don’t call yourselves Jews and embarrass our communities. You’re actually contributing to Antisemitism. There are 0 normal Jews blocking bridges, roads or tunnels. New Yorkers are fed up with all of you.
Shlomo Mansour, the oldest hostage held captive by Hamas, turns 86 today.
He survived the Farhud Massacre in Baghdad in 1941 and moved to Israel.
On Oct 7 Hamas gunmen broke into his home and beat him before kidnapping him to Gaza.
Shlomo’s family is anxiously waiting for him…
Butler displays their characteristic ability to step out of their field of expertise and make themself look like a fool. “Armed resistance”, “a terrorist attack”, and “an antisemitic attack” are not mutually exclusive terms.
Judith Butler describing the October 7 massacre as armed resistance: “We can have different views about Hamas as a political party, we can have different views about armed resistance. But [...] the uprising of October 7th was an act of armed resistance.[...] This was an uprising”
When the USA turned away Jewish refugees during the Holocaust…it was the Palestinians that accepted them. When Europe was helping Hitler to achieve the final solutions, many Palestinians were shielded their Jewish neighbours. So why is them that must pay for the West’s crimes?
Same day a Seattle reform synagogue was defaced the second time this year, the last was on holocaust remembrance day, Orthodox synagogues had fake anthrax sent to their mailboxes, there’s a concerted effort in this country to intimidate Jews out of public communal life.
Romemu, the community where I had my Bat Mitzvah, was vandalized with antisemitic and white supremacist (k×3) graffiti 😢
This is happening in the city with by far the largest Jewish community in the world 😡
Hate should have no home. Antisemitism has no justifications.
I am personally offended by a lot of things fellow Jews say but the claim that I have seen by anti-zionist Jews that prior to the advent of Zionism there was little hatred of Jews in MENA is an especially disgusting betrayal of their fellow Jews and our history.
When Palestine is finally free, it will SHOCK you how quickly the west remembers how to truly hate Jews. It'll happen so fast your head will spin. And when it does, the worshippers of Zionism won't even be able to conceptualize their own oppression.
20 year olds deserve to be able to be stupid (even racist) without being subject to violent repression, but you’re a fool if you think the things Khymani & his ilk say as student leaders is escapable or that it doesn’t completely hamstring the campus Palestine solidarity movement
I see a lot of people talking about Oppenheimers non-whiteness in relation to the Shoah but it’s also worth saying that like other racialized minorities Jews were not equal citizens under the law in the US until the 1960s.
People seem to love
#Oppenheimer
but I'll just say it: I was uncomfy watching yet another movie about tortured white male genius when the victims of the atrocities glossed over by the script—Japanese people, interned Japanese Americans, and Native Americans—had no voice.
Pakistani revolutionary and former FLN member Eqbal Ahmad diagnosed this disease in 1983 and the prognosis has not changed “The fixation with the idea of armed struggle as the only revolutionary form is largely responsible for many of the PLO’s problems.”
First we can’t mourn 10/7 (or the ongoing hostage situation), now we can’t mourn the tree of life
If all Jewish death is propaganda I wonder what that makes Jewish life?
ברוך דיין האמת Benjamin Harouni, a young Persian Jewish dentist, was murdered by a former patient at his practice yesterday. Three others wounded.
Mohammad Abdulkareem, 29, was identified as the shooter and arrested.
Age old story: tiny sect criticizes those who have built a real movement.
Self-hatred & self-marginalization will never build a real movement among our own people.
If I am not for me, who will be for me? And when I am for myself alone, what am I? And if not now, then when?
Ukrainian language and culture was intentionally fabricated by academics in the early 1800s for explicitly anti-Russian political reasons. They took the vernacular accent of the peasants in the area and called it "Ukrainian" in order to produce a Ukrainian national consciousness.
What I want to know is how did no one notice the 5 teenagers decked out meshichist gear excavating a tunnel right through the wall of the busiest synagogue in the US

Perfectly reasonable BDS target and the tahini isn’t that good but the Israelis are not trying to trick you into buying the wrong tahini please be serious
Absolutely bankrupt, this sick organization is rotting from the inside out.
I hope the many young Jews of good conscience who have found a political home in JStreetU burn it down, the Jewish left will be waiting for you with open arms and a sing reading “ceasefire now!”.
If we do not see evidence soon that the gov't of Israel is, in fact, making meaningful changes to its conduct of the war and its attitudes regarding post-war arrangements, then we will no longer be able to provide our organizational support for the current military campaign.
Maoists will cry and moan that the joint Israeli and Palestinian movement within Israel, who risk arrest, torture, and murder by the state and far right, isn’t aligned with “the resistance”.
Meanwhile they haven’t done one meaningful thing in their life to “resist” apartheid.
@danido999
@jacobin
If these so called "Israeli leftists" claims to be pro palestinian, why aren't they aligning themselves with the palestinian resistance and waging revolutionary struggle to bring down the zionist state?
But nevertheless, these Jews with no connection to their own people will be trotted out endlessly as tokens for antisemites who wish to instrumentalize their alienation and trauma for the cause of anti-Jewish racism and anti-judaism.
@lefttwick
Yeah compared to just about every other western country the US left is relatively non-antisemitic, especially compared to non-anglophone countries, but that’s also an unfortunately low bar

Aha okay so just do not use any numbers regarding the Rothschilds. What about any other wealthy Jewish families or will that also be antisemitism? What if I said Zuckerberg has 509 billion dollars?
They ask us to forget that when they refer to armed struggle they are not referring to obviously righteous self defense against the forces of dispossession but the massacre of families and blowing up school busses which only strengthens Israeli militarism. As Khalidi puts it:
Judaism is not historically universalist, though we have elements of universalism, the mourners of Zion are not a metaphor. One doesn’t need to be zionist to understanding that connection to the land and Jerusalem (Zion) is the basic underpinning of Jewish belief and peoplehood.
15/ Even more, reflexive acceptance of Zionism is not Jewish. It is the opposite of Jewish. It rejects the historic universalism of Judaism, the largely humanistic impulse, and at the very least, the openness to debate and dissent...
I think the dividing line that should be drawn between these two marches is that the March for Soviet Jews was almost entirely Jewish, and headed up by a broad Jewish coalition, this March includes numerous Christian nationalist and does not have a singe rabbi speaking.
We showed up at Rep. Adam Smith's first public appearance since 10/7 to protest his support for Israel's ongoing genocide in gaza.
Smith is the top Democrat on the Armed Services Committee and has continued to support unconditional military aid for death and destruction in Gaza.
