The only two groups of people who say "the Jews" when they mean Israel are hardcore Zionists and hardcore antisemites--two camps that share 99.9% of the same way of looking at the world but just disagree about which entire ethnic groups are Good or Bad.

Long as we're still picking on Sarah Hurwitz, I haven't seen anyone flagging how she said western Jews should have more loyalty to Israel than their own countries because Israeli Jews are their "siblings". Under the IHRA definition of antisemitism it's banned to say Jews do this.

What Sarah Hurwitz said wasn't a slip. It was the quiet part said with the ease of someone who's never had to fear the consequences of her own worldview — that the real problem isn't genocide, it's that Americans can now recognize it. She's mourning the loss of impunity.
