Too many sisters talking so openly about their time of month occurring today. Polite reminder, we all don’t need to know, you can tell your friends privately instead.
the fact that you can issue statements about UCL alumni winning golden globes but not about UCL alumni being assassinated is very telling
@ucl
@UCLAlumni
We’re thrilled for
@UCL
alumni Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas, whose latest film, Oppenheimer, triumphed at last night’s
#GoldenGlobes
!
Christopher Nolan took home the Best Director prize, while film producer Emma Thomas accepted the award for Best Motion Picture – Drama 🏆
UCL President and Provost, Michael Spence, responded to my email saying they cannot issue a statement regarding Refaat’s death. What else is there to say?
much better turn out today for Sudan this week 🇸🇩
let’s have more people next week, bring a friend to the UAE embassy on Sunday and I’ll see you there iA 🫶🏾
Would be good to see more Muslims in London sharing AND attending the march for Sudan on Sunday which is timed so you can pray dhur before joining 🇸🇩🫶🏾

🇸🇩 We must show up for our communities who are protesting the escalating brutality & violence in Sudan.
Our Legal Observers said the London protest went smoothly today, but if you are attending the march next weekend - please read our bustcards & keep each other safe ✨
Protestors in Cairo, Egypt chanted,: "They did it, Mandela's grandchildren, while we are in fear, shame, and humiliation," expressing solidarity with South Africa's case against the Israeli war on Gaza.
good morning
@ucl
, did you know that the PR disaster you think you’re avoiding by refusing to say Refaat’s name would’ve blown over in a week or two but the longer you hold out on paying your respects, the longer this PR nightmare will last?
London - join the global day of action for Sudan 🇸🇩

the amazing students
@UCLAFP
occupied UCL for over a month demanding UCL divest, cut ties with Israeli unis, and honour alumnus Dr Refaat Alareer ❤️🔥
also a month long occupation
@Gold4Palestine
❤️🔥
also occupations at Manchester, Bristol, and Nottingham ❤️🔥
“Speaking to him might have left you slightly bewildered if you were unaccustomed to such attentiveness. He listened to you as if you were the most important, talented or smartest student.”
UCL don’t issue statements except when they do. Maybe they should make a statement on who gets condolences and who doesn’t moving forward so we don’t have to pretend it isn’t racism?
UCL is shocked and saddened by the tragedy which happened at
@unikarlova
in Prague, one of
@UCLSSEES
closest partners.
We offer our deepest condolences to everyone within the Charles University community.
Our thoughts are with all those affected.
We refuse to wait any longer for the UCL alumni team to help us organise a vigil for the martyrs of Gaza 🕯️
Please join alumni in remembrance next week (open to all) 🕊️🇵🇸

I’ve responded letting him know Dr Refaat was assassinated and he should reconsider “making an exception”.
With or without UCL, he will be honoured at his alma mater on Wednesday at 2pm 🕊
next week!!
Pls show up for Sudanis who are going through a war resulting in a catastrophic humanitarian crisis and some of the worst accounts of sexual violence I’ve ever read 🇸🇩

The University of Manchester has reported students on the encampment to the police for using the word ‘intifada’. Not only is this racist but
@OfficialUoM
have chosen to endanger its students by referring them to the police!!

today’s
@UCLAFP
rally attended by students, staff, and the public (with some being held outside the gates) ahead of their meeting with management today ❤️🔥
‼️UCL are sending threatening emails about attending to people who’ve reposted the vigil‼️
If you’re worried, we will be OUTSIDE for the vigil so feel free to ignore their emails and still attend ✨
You can dm me, in confidence, if you’ve received an email from UCL 🫶🏾

Mansour’s been kidnapped by the IDF and it should be breaking news, honestly feel like I’m losing my mind every time I think about how nothing is being reported on mainstream outlets.
Mansour is Canadian so use the template linked to get the gov to act!
Anyway, the vote shouldn’t be demoralising. It should ignite something inside you and make sure you never let them get away with this! The veil has been lifted so what are you gonna do now you know the truth?
the online Muslim space will improve once we realise the people booty clapping to get onto miers porgan are the same ones who run media orgs “for the community” but really they’re glorified rags
At todays vigil for Sudan, Yassmin Abdel-Magied said ‘Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un’ 365 times for each day of the war because we don’t know the number of martyrs or the names of all the Sudanese martyrs. So devastating, may their souls be raised to the highest of heavens🤍
I really fear we aren’t grabbing the untethered ends quickly enough, please please don’t leave people behind - hug everyone tight!! I can’t even begin to explain how bad it is for people who sit between communities instead of in them - if you’re inside bring them in!!
💌 ANNOUNCEMENT 💌

Noting I intentionally didn’t mention UCL’s direct involvement with the weapons used by Israel in this email. I only asked them to acknowledge his death and still…
Today stewards from
@PSCupdates
facilitated the arrest of a woman by instructing crowds surrounding the police to disperse. When asked, they said they had no legal training and de-escalated by giving her a bust card.
The thought of mass graves is horrifying but the images are such a harrowing reminder of how disrespected and violated Palestinians are in life and death at the hands of their occupiers. There’s such a deep sadness in knowing this, may their souls know rest and sanctuary 🤍
Liberation movements are so connected you cannot weave them apart but people on twitter will tell you one at a time or that one is more important than the other. What is freedom if my brother is still behind bars, or dead in the street?
much better turn out today for Sudan this week 🇸🇩

imagine finding out the uni you want to go to had to be publicly shamed into acknowledging the assassination of their alumnus? I would choose another uni tbh
there’s enough Palestinians, many of them documenting in English, for you guys to be following and amplifying instead of looking to white suprematists, assadists, and shaun king for information
Refaat was UCL alumni, he was an academic, he was a writer, he was a teacher. The university Refaat taught at has been destroyed, Refaat should be honoured by his alma mater
@ucl
I’ve realised that when slavery in Saudi is brought up, everyone thinks of the kafala system but there is also “traditional slavery” where kidnapped people are trafficked into the country - this happens to African migrants all the time!!
I can’t get over the fact that another flour massacre is occurring and certain man are posting pictures from iftar with empire, I honestly feel so disconnected from reality
"Dr. Refaat Alareer was a freedom fighter who faced the whole world with poetry and a whiteboard marker. He told stories filled with truth," Alia says.
Please read

's latest about our dear professor, Dr.Refaat.
There’s a lot happening on Wednesday - we’re holding a vigil around UCL, come through and join us 🕯️
Wednesday 21st Feb
5:30pm
27-28 Gordon Square, WC1H 0AH
Pls pls mask up!!!
I do wonder why UCL emailed all alumni about the encampment bc there’s people in Singapore reading Spence’s email finding out about it - he really is a marketing girly at heart 💘
name a country that hasn’t been bombed to shit because they didn’t bow down to big daddy merica
israel, america, and the uk are one and the same - a singular entity that terrorises anyone they can’t loot
I’m always saying “there’s nothing to say” then I have a cry and realise, actually, there’s a lot to say, there’s too much to say, I can never finish saying what needs to be said? May genociders, genocide enablers, and genocide supporters never know peace from the things we say
One way to support the occupation of UCL is by paying the lovely students
@UCLAFP
a visit in the Jeremy Bentham Room, Wilkins Building (the apartheid free zone) ❤️🔥
I’ve linked the demands of the occupation below 🪁🇵🇸
I have a BSc and an MSc from two russell group unis (first to go uni in my family so felt like it had to be worth it) and I’m now employed part-time making tiktok videos and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
logging off for the day because I feel like I’m going mad but “we will never forgive the media” has turned into celebrating a call for a ceasefire six months in? mainstream media is part of the war machine and when they change tune just know it’s not because of their humanity

An Arabic speaking student on the encampment told me they feel intimidated and discriminated against because of the university’s decision to criminalise and demonise the use of the Arabic language.
These beautiful ribbons have now been taken down. The organisers of the intervention asked for the ribbons and the names of the martyrs to be respected. They didn't last one night 💔
London!! We march on the 13th as part of the Global March for Sudan 🇸🇩
Freedom, Peace, and Justice ❤️🔥
make sure you’re following
@LondonforSudan
for updates!
Keir claims he did not say Israel had the right to cut off power & water to Gaza, & says he clarified what he meant pretty quickly.
If he misspoke why did shadow ministers go on TV after the LBC interview & defend what he said, & why did he take 9 days to 'clarify' his comments
🚨📢RALLY THIS FRIDAY! 1pm @ MAIN QUAD 🍉🇵🇸
Our successful occupation forced the provost to agree to meet us on Friday afternoon. Let’s send him into the meeting knowing that the UCL community will always stand with Palestine.
We won’t be intimidated, until we’re liberated✊🏼✊🏾✊🏿
Sudan is not a chessboard, Sudan is it’s people 🇸🇩
so good to see so many people at the march for Sudan today, reminder to attend the vigil on Monday marking the one year anniversary of the war 🤍
disagree that it’s
@ucl
’s campus - who wants to chair a debate on Refaat’s Campus on the uselessness of ivory towers? Management of the soon to be obsolete institution are invited to fight their case 🫡

“My dear brothers I’m not a pirate, we’re Somali people and this our ocean…. We’re punishing those foreign ships exploiting our waters”
“My dear brothers I’m not a pirate, I’m a vigilante and this our ocean…. We’re punishing those foreign ships exploiting our waters” years of propaganda against them finally being dispelled.
I hate how life is so serious when you’re poor because every decision you make feels so heavy, every life decision feels like it should change your circumstances and it’s stressful af living like that.
