It's #YorkshireDay so it would be remiss of us not to give a massive plug to @CentralTramway, Scarborough's 1881 cliff lift which is on our #BucketandSpadeList this year. Vote here for this gem of #Yorkshire #seasideheritage - .@funimag

Proof of the continuing affection for #Saltburn's cliff lift is the fact it won our first #BucketandSpadeList awards in 2023 🥇.Who will be this year's winner? That's down to YOU.

Saltburn-by-the-Sea's historic cliff lift has been a much-loved treasure since it opened in 1884. This incredible piece of heritage is made even more unique as it's powered by water. It's one of the oldest water-balanced funiculars in England. 🌊

We're delighted that @HistoricEngland is drawing attention to #seasideheritage this summer so lets help them focus on the resort buildings that have long been undervalued - add your stories about piers, bandstand, hotels etc here

This small building was once used as a lookout point for shoals of pilchards off the coast of Newquay in Cornwall. 🐟. It was used by someone called a 'huer' to watch the sea and alert the town when fish were nearby. The locals would then rush to launch their fishing boats.

@Countrylifemag The incredible concrete diving stage at #westonsupermare was hailed as the finest in Europe when it was built in 1937. Despite being grade II listed it was demolished in 1982.#lidos #seasideheritage
