The apartments at Captain's View in Scarborough, designed by Andrew Doughty Architectural Design, mark a turning point in the appearance of new developments in the seaside town, with its ocean liner vibe. The developer was local firm Thompson Homes.

One of the brutalist buildings in the centre of Scarborough is this 1970s multi-storey car park, built using the lift-slab construction method, when floor slabs were cast on the ground & mechanically raised. In today's wet weather, the concrete fares better than the brickwork.

Opposite Peasholm Park gardens in Scarborough, is a history going as far back as C17, when a coaching inn had existed. Redeveloped in early C18 with two cottages & a manor house, + others built since, is a fine collection of interesting buildings in the north side of the resort.

Seaside heritage is at threat again on Whitby's West Cliff. The historic & cherished cliff lift needs repairs & now the whale bones too! Perhaps the town council should secure funds for the lift before thinking about saving the questionably unethical whalebones? @seaside_network

Nice, this afternoon, to visit St Mary's, #Scarborough's parish church, to see their illuminations & Christmas trees. Terrific.

Seen up-close this morning, I'm getting an impression of a let-go attraction here in #Scarborough! The historic water chute looks in need of attention before another season of operation. I do hope it is kept going, it's such a rare survivor of bygone times at the seaside resort.

⚠️ Stand-off in Sheringham: Local campaigners have spent the past three nights camping out overnight in an extraordinary bid to save a humble 1950s bus shelter, thwarting council contractors who arrived at 2am in an attempt to demolish the structure. Located on Station Approach

🎂Happy birthday to William Burges (1827 – 1881)! A visionary architect of the Victorian Gothic Revival, Burges reshaped Victorian design. 📷 St Mary's church, Studley Royal (J Hughes) Christ the Consoler, Skelton (J Hughes) Worcester College chapel Oxford. (M E Leah) #architect

Grade I listed as 'a masterpiece of High Victorian architecture', is St Mary's at Studley Royal, North Yorkshire, by #architect Wm. Burges (1827-81), whose birthday it is today. Details for the 1871-78 church cite the chancel as 'the ultimate achievement of Burges' eclecticism'.

An eyesore at Scarborough Hospital is the link bridge to the pathology buildings. They are to be demolished in plans to build a new pathology department, so this bridge link will then be gone.

Glimpses of the newly restored roof of the passenger train shed at Scarborough Railway Sta. After more than 3 yrs' work, scaffolding is coming down at the 1845 grade II station that 'retains the original G T Andrews roof structure, a unique survival for a station of this size.'

I think the verticality in the architecture of the new multi storey car park, being built in Bridlington's town centre, will fit in well in it's heritage surroundings.
