Yesterday four tidal energy projects secured contracts from Allocation Round 7. They have been guaranteed a price of £265 per MwH. This is 3x higher than the market price of £80. This is national self harm. The market will provide energy for 1/3 of the price and we are

Several times I've replied to Starmer tweets complaining about him talking about "my government" rather than "His Majesty's Government". This isn't pedantry. The fact that the government is "His Majesty's Government" makes clear to everyone that the government's role is one of

Britain has enough ammunition to fight for eight days. That’s it. After years of relying on the US to hold the war stocks we’d need in a major conflict, we now have almost nothing left. 1/5

@_HenryBolton There's one main issue: it was the media and Boris's own MPs that hounded him out of No.10. Starmer leads over the most unpopular, stand-for-nothing group of politicians this country has ever seen. They know that his resignation would be the beginning of the end for them and

New rules require UK company directors to verify their identity. When you click 'Verify My Identity' you are told you need to have verified your identity, in order to use the 'Verify My Identity' service. The UK Civil Service needs gutting, from top to bottom.

This is the Laffer Curve in real life. Rachel Reeves hiked Capital Gains Tax, and CGT receipts fell by £1.4 billion. Higher tax. Less revenue. Investors aren't stupid. When taxes get too high, people change their behaviour: they delay sales, move money, or leave the country.

Things aren't much better in the rest of England, where housing starts & completions have more or less stalled. Despite a slight bounce in 2024, new starts remain stuck as low as during the pandemic dip, and almost as low as the post-2008 dip.
