As one concerned parent in Inver put it to me, ensuring young people can learn to swim isn’t a choice. When you live as close to the water as they do, it is essential for their children’s safety. They deserve so much better; everyone who uses the facilities does (3/4).

Connie Ramsay, our by-election candidate for Tain & Easter Ross, and I have joined campaigners in demanding Highland Council thinks again. We have also called on the ScotGovt to implement a statutory requirement on local authorities to ensure all pupils are taught to swim (2/4).

The only local swimming pool in Tain is at risk of closure amidst a SNP-Independent-led Highland Council review of the future of TRACC. All options put forward - including the gym and fitness classes - have essentially been rejected by the public (1/4).

That is why I am calling for a Clean Water Act which would update the country’s Victorian sewage network and see every sewage dump monitored and published with binding targets for their reduction.

Data I released in June showed sewage was blown into Smoo Cave and across Dunnet Beach, a burst pipe discharged sewage into the River Thurso, and a discharge into the Cromarty Firth. Across the Far North, there were 522 spills in 2024, up from 442 in 2023.

There isn't a fan who wouldn't have wanted success with Don, but the run of games since March simply wasn't good enough. Best of luck to him - always a legend. Absolute faith that this squad can compete for the league, but time for the players to show it.
