It’s the kind of book you wish you’d written: loads of fireworks, great stories for classroom and the dinner table, and some very sharp questions about the nature of sovereignty and political power. And crocheting!
Quinn Slobodian (@zeithistoriker) talks to Ferenc Laczó and Vera Scepanovic about his most recent book "Crack-Up Capitalism: Market Radicals and the Dream of a World Without Democracy". An unevenness of globalization, imperial and colonial rule, libertarian ideas-all in one pod!

Are we seeing the subtle intention to avoid regulating how #platforms organise work & avoid giving real rights to #workers? It's not only the employment status that is at risk of being poorly regulated, #algorithmicmanagement & the overall purpose of the Dir. are at risk too.

What I learned: -How democracies got so good at evading accountability -How the same global crisis gave rise to neoliberalism and perestroika, and how intertwined they were -How tricky it is to try to give an honest account of an era in which so many myths are at stake.

When you hear someone speak your deepest furies in cogent analytical language, and you remember why reading academic books for a living seemed like a good idea once. Thank you, @ProfKochenov @RevDem2020
