The take home point of my new piece👇👇👇 "Ukraine’s level of corruption [..] compares favorably not only to its fellow EU hopefuls in the current enlargement round, but also to the last three countries that completed talks and joined. When skeptics warn that..."

Is Ukraine Too Corrupt to Join the EU? Despite the country’s steady progress fighting corruption, even in wartime, skeptics warn it’s not enough. But this is just an excuse. Their real concern is how Putin’s Russia would respond. @PopovaProf https://t.co/z2DB9Etn1F

Honored to receive the Gordon Smith and Vincent Wright Memorial Prize from @WEPsocial, with @JamesRDennison and Hanspeter Kriesi. We show a spill-over from support for Ukrainian to other refugee groups - both come from attitudes to the war. @ERC_SOLID https://t.co/HC62tgLEBq

🇷🇴RO revealed the full extent of the Russian threat on dem institutions. Even if 🇷🇺 didn’t manage to boost a pro-Kremlin man to high office (so far!), it won by sowing distrust & discontent with democracy. That RO got here is the result of serious oversight. @EUI_Schuman @EUI_EU

🇷🇴RO is voting for parliament on its national day amid the threat of pro-Russian far-right surge. I hope ROs give themselves a fighting chance & keep the country on EU/NATO path. 📷The funeral of a Ukrainian soldier on the Maidan, giving his life to also buy us more time.

Getting a lot of Qs on what's happening in RO. Notice that the country also hosts legislative elections on Dec 1, where we are likely to see the far-right increase size. I will brief those interested the day after. No small talk. Register for zoom link: https://t.co/YXRMPSne3m

🇷🇴 RO elections: a clear alignment between far-right supply and demand. The outcome is long overdue. The country was always a carismatic candidate away from an overt ultra-nationalist turn. Independent Calin Georgescu is just what the Kremlin ordered.

A wave of shock and disbelief tonight as the first round of the 🇷🇴Romanian presidential elections concludes. Projections indicate that two far-right candidates are poised to secure over 30% of the vote collectively.
